sober hunting camp?

When our group were all much younger, we were pretty serious about getting tags filled and everyone was pretty intense. There was no real alcohol unless you shot something, then everyone had a drink to celebrate. These days, hunting camp is more about time spent with family and friends. Good times are more important than a deer hanging on the pole. We all enjoy a few drinks after the hunt, and guns are away for the night. I guess getting older changes ones perspective on what’s important at hunt camp!

We also have mellowed as we age. We used to be real serious about filling tags, not so much now. We typically arrive in camp on Saturday before openers and that night we have a pretty good party. Next day is camp chores and Monday morning is hunt time, nobody is hung over. Couple drinks after dinner but that's about it. If we had to go "dry" for whatever reason I don't think any one of us would care.

That sounds like our camp, there have been in the early years a couple of new invites that were not re invited as they wanted to drink more than hunt we are up there to hunt, have a drink or two , eat well , play some euchre after dinner, but the main reason is to hunt, if we get nothing which has happened no one is upset , we still had a good time.
It's a time to get together , get some work done around the camp, talk over old times , hunt and enjoy ourselves, no drunks with hangovers or drunks who get belligerent, and fortunately none of us smoke anything .

I was thinking the same thing. It’s not only a hunt, it is also a vacation.

We are very strict about drinking during day light hours. Drink all you want at night.

But the next morning I'm dragging you out of bed and your going to be doing the dogging and leaving your gun at camp.

Some late night euchre games going on, but noone gets fallen down drunk anymore unless it was a very successful day and not hunting the next.

What happened at the camp, stayed at the camp. But here's a tip for you young fella's. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT throw a handful of condoms in your buddies bag before he heads home! We all had to help him get out of that one?
