Keep looking... eventually you'll find it, or build it yourself. The family I hunt with keeps it a dry camp... many stories of years gone by and the stupidness that ensued when guys got into the booze. We're there to make meat... leave the drinking to one of the other 51 weeks out of the year.

which one. Polish or Ruskies? read my nickname to get the hint.
Hint: its a stereotypical joke on it's own nationalist.

Thanks for adding to the drunk redneck stereotype.
We had 4 people in camp this year, I think the total alcohol consumed by the group was 8 beer by one guy, 2 bottles of cider by another, 1 had nothing and I only had 6 beer for the week.
We could easily go non-alcoholic and it would change nothing about the dynamic. I have hunted with people who hid a flash and went out hunting, they were kicked out when we found out, then were asked back once we left. We are staying away from that area now due in part to this.

Just settle down there young fella, no need to get yer panties in a knot. A lot of guys go to a hunt camp to let loose and have a good time. Doesnt mean they all walk the bush drunk.

Totally agree , for some in our group it is the only time they get away all year without the wife and kids.

I remember back in the day, one of the fellas who owned an RV would hire a DD to drive us (the camp) into the local village for wings night on Wed of hunt week. Used to get back around 2-3 in the morning, most of us with a pretty good shine on.
Needless to say there was NO morning hunt and it was all we could do to, to go out for the afternoon one. Most guys just slept in their stands. Good memories.

Everyone in the groups I have hunted (or fished) in like to have a cocktail or two at the end of the day, but everyone also knows the reason they are there is to harvest game. Imbibing in the evening, smoking a stoogie, playing cards, and watching sports every night is something that doesn't happen at home.

The way you wrote it, seeing that tone cannot be moved along in text, says that there are no hunt camps where people are not drinking all the time, that is how it came across. I know one camp where the guys would drink a 24 a day each, that is right, 24 beer each day and they were in the bush with rifles. I hunted with guys who were so hung over from the night before that they should never have had a gun with them. My opinion is that if you want to truly let loose and get hammered then do it on a night that you are not hunting the next day. I was a dogger, nothing like walking up on guys who only hunt for 5 days a year half gone on a watch expecting that sound to be a deer.

Its been a few years since I hunted with a gang, but the memories of those times stick with you like a pair of dirty shorts. Ya, there was alcohol involved. No weed cuz one of the guys was an OPP officer. Those were the day's! 6 guys dancing to Willy n the Hag! (don't ask) When we all got up bright n early at the crack of 10 a.m., we strategically planned the day's hunt ahead of us as we devoured breakfast. Then, as soon as the snotty eggs were swept into the pail, it was a fight for the couches. Last man standing was the sucker who had to bring in a few pieces of wood for the stove! ( a favorite trick was to ram the deadbolt shut after he walked out the door.) Oh, the screams! The threats of serious bodily harm! (and that was from the cop in our midst?)
But no worries, no one left the camp with a rifle. (a few arrived without a rifle?) It was a good time that was had by all involved. There was always a deer or 2 hanging. (at the camp next door?) No innocent person was ever in danger. (except the guy who bolted the door?) But I can tell you, whoever showed up without a crock in their bag, was sent down the road kicking stones! No reprieve, no forgiveness, they were gone.... To the liquor store!
Sober camps can be fun I suppose? But let me ask you this. When was the last time you snuck up on buddy who just entered the privy and nailed a 2x6 across the door?
