I would like to think that most Canadians are beyond that...

So would I, but unfortunately some prejudices die hard.
She will leave it alone except for the few things she clearly stated. Foreign funding for abortion. Coerced abortion and sex selected abortion.
She is a women talking about a so called women’s issue so that has to help.
She is more open to speaking about it. Unlike Andrew.

Pro-Life, No Hidden Agenda
DR. LESLYN LEWIS·SATURDAY, MARCH 7, 2020·READING TIME: 2 MINUTESPublic
Ever hear that Conservatives have “a hidden agenda”?
It is by far the most common attack made by liberal media elites against Conservatives.
And the most frustrating thing is that it works - especially against people like me who are pro-life.
It’s time to take that weapon away by being absolutely crystal clear on abortion.
As Conservative Leader I will:
Ban the misogynistic practice of sex-selective abortion;
Criminalize coerced abortions;
Increase funding for pregnancy centres; and
End funding for international abortions.
That’s it. Nothing hidden about it.
These are clear proposals that will not only result in fewer abortions, but are sensible pro-life policies that the majority of Canadians support.
When it comes to Private Members Bills (PMBs), under my leadership Members of Parliament will be able to put forward any bills that are important to them and/or their constituents - and everyone will be able to vote according to their conscience.
That’s democracy.
What do you think? Are you ready to fight an election *without* the Liberal spin of a hidden agenda working against us?
Click here to let me know what you think.
It’s two quick questions, but they’re the most important questions I’ve asked yet.
If you want to make sure I’m able to put forward a “no hidden agenda” platform in the next election campaign, I need your support. Click here to donate today.
Sincerely,
Leslyn Lewis, CPC Leadership Candidate
My comments next,
I would call that a clear gutsy stand. And real life experience.
She is lawyer, has her own firm so yes not much political savvy But Trump didn’t either

I like her a lot, that's why she gets my vote.....
Why OToole is hard to support. He is responsible for this.
Derek Sloan: Conservative. No Apology.
Richard,
One thing that should put us Conservatives head and shoulders above the Trudeau Liberals is our commitment to respect grassroots democracy.
This commitment must be demonstrated at every opportunity, especially in a leadership contest.
This is why I spoke out when Richard Décarie’s candidacy was in question a few months ago. In the end, the party’s Leadership Election Organizing Committee (LEOC) rejected Décarie’s candidacy and no reason was given. Cancel culture and political correctness? That’s my guess. This was a low moment for LEOC.
Another misguided policy of LEOC was the exorbitant $300,000 entrance fee. This was so high that it kept my caucus colleague Marilyn Gladu out of the race. Marilyn and I have very different views on many issues, but her voice should not have been excluded from this contest. Instead, LEOC’s exclusionary attitude resulted in another candidate being excluded. Shameful.
Well, today, another candidate’s fate is up in the air: Jim Karahalios.
A number of weeks ago, Jim Karahalios was denied the opportunity to run.
This, in spite of LEOC initially approving Jim’s entry into the race; in spite of Jim collecting the required 3000 signatures; and in spite of Jim raising the $300,000 entry fee.
Unlike the case of Richard Décarie, we know exactly why Jim Karahalios was evicted from the race. One of the other leadership candidates didn’t like the contents of Jim’s campaign communications, and he then filed a complaint against Jim’s campaign.
This complaint first led to a fine being levied against Jim’s campaign, and then, ultimately, to the disqualification of his candidacy altogether. This was a huge overstep on the part of the members of LEOC who were involved. They were wrong in their disqualification of Jim Karahalios.
Jim Karahalios has since gone to court to get reinstated as a candidate. True, it shouldn’t be up to a judge as to who should be the next CPC leader. But it shouldn’t be up to LEOC, either. It should be up to the members of the Conservative Party of Canada.
Should LEOC be censoring what candidates can and cannot say? No, they should not.
Let the members decide. This is why we have elections. Candidates say things and the voters make their evaluations, and then they vote. Sure, Jim made statements that some people didn’t like, and not everyone may agree with him. Indeed, Jim even attacked me at one point, but I didn’t go crying to the party that I didn’t like what Jim said.
Let Jim Karahalios run.
Put Jim Karahalios back onto the ballot.
Let the members decide.
As a Party, we should not partake in “cancel culture”. That is something the Liberals do. We have to be better than that. It is most unfortunate that, once again, LEOC let political correctness and left-wing cancel culture drive them to an anti-democratic decision.
If we really believe in grassroots democracy, where the party members, and not an appointed Red Tory elite, have the power, then I hope the court rules in Jim Karahalios’ favour.
Best wishes for every success today, Jim Karahalios.
Do you agree,
Sincerely,

How many immigrants from Muslim and other European countries wont vote for a female to rule the country? Seeing as multicultural we now are we also need to consider the large number of voters from areas like the GTA and Quebec. Makes no difference to me but I'm not so sure about the high density areas with many new Canadian voters
Trudeau panders to the Muslim vote he has that in the bag. Maybe she will secretly get the black Muslim female vote.
Half the voters are women.
Europeans voted for Thatcher and Markel. Maybe some racists won’t.
I think Leslyn can win.

For Ms.Lewis there's a huge elephant in the room. She's never won an election and has zero parliamentary experience. Politics is a blood sport,no place for neophyte. Should she gain the CPC leadership, unless she's elected in a general election with a sweeping majority, the Liberals will eat her alive. I can't see that happening, especially, with an ultra leftist, openly hostile, liberal media ready to blow the least little faux pas or verbal misstep miles out of proportion.
