My son was checked by a CO last year while bear hunting after he came down from his stand at dusk. The CO had said he had waited quietly in the woods for 45 minutes ,so as not to ruin my sons last minutes of the hunt. This was after the CO had walked 2 miles into the bush to check that one stand. Pretty nice CO I would say. Others would say he had nefarious intent. Different perspective I suppose.
I’m glad it only takes 1.5hrs to figure out that an unopened bag of deer feed in the back of a truck is not being used to bait waterfowl.
Good thing it was only one bag.
Nothing illegal about having a bag of sealed deer feed in the back of a truck. The co walked around a cut corn field for 45min looking for corn??? Then proceeded to go thru every shell in our bags. Then tried to force a 4th shell in my gun. He was pushing so hard I had to remind him your never suppose to force anything into a firearm. I've been hunting 25yrs and have no problem being checked. But again cos need to use common sense and not harass hunters. Again they are people, theres good ones and bad ones. I could see if I had prior offences a more detailed check may in order. As you know there is no baiting when waterfowling. So the CO has to determine you aren't going to use that deer feed in the back of the truck as bait or haven't already emptied bags of corn in the field. While there is nothing illegal about having a bag of sealed deer feed in the back of a truck, the CO needs to determine if what you are saying about that feed is true. Again, if that means it takes 45 mins to see if all the corn in the field is a result of normal agricultural practices, then so be it. As for the third shell into the magazine, I have to wonder if your judgement of how hard he pushed is a result of your perceived negative interactions with the CO. It seems to me that while you claim that you have no problem with being checked, you obviously have an issue with the length of time it takes a CO to do their job. They don't know you from anyone else in the world and they don't know who they are dealing with when they approach you. While you seem to be the type of person who stringently obeys the law (not a criticism, just a fact that I don't know you other than you posting online), there are plenty of guys out there that don't and who have not been caught yet. The CO doesn't know if he is dealing with a law abiding hunter or poacher who hasn't been caught yet.Quote:

What this site really needs is additional Topic that is related to LEO/CO Complaints. That minority opinionated group could spend their time on that thread and try to out do each other with their stories of negative contacts with LEO/CO's , whether they are reality, embellished or that they know a guy who has a cousin who has a neighbour who's uncle had it happen to him. They could feed off each other. People that choose to avoid it can.
That way we could all be happy.
