Your rural property is not on the grid, not on a major body of water, so what are you paying.......maybe $1,000.....$1,500? Peanuts in the big picture.
As far as my business goes we pull permits for all work and have a numbered company - with insurance (requirement) and NO corners are cut as there is only one way to do electrical work and that is the correct way. It is the home owner that always asks to pay in cash (we NEVER offer) - sometimes the answer is yes and other times it is no it depends on the situation, and yes most of these people are Liberals (teachers, cops and other silly servants). You cannot run a business for long running everything off the books because you need a profit to pay for tools, trucks, equipment and to allow you to have some nice tax deductions (vehicle, fuel, tools, golf, gun club membership, ect....). Residential wiring is not rocket science - the issues you hear about is when hacks (aka - handyman) pretending to be electricians do electrical work. In all cases there is no ESA permit, or inspection.
.....just get down off your soap box before you fall and hurt yourself
