Yo mama!
We can all sit back and criticise the actions of the authorities that were involved but thank God no one was hurt, all of us that are familiar with bears that are stressed know what damage they can do. If there had of been an injury or fatality to a child or adult as a result of this bear, then I am sure the outrage would be horrendous as for the cops your dammed if you do dammed if you don't no win situation in this case.
Aw come on, we wouldn't be on the internet if is wasn't full of armchair experts
This bear was shot about 10 minutes from my home. The stupid thing though is that it was also 10 minutes from an MNRF office in Aurora. They also had been told of the bear 2 days before. I have been there msny times buying licences and dropping off jaws. Cocky young CO's walking around inside the building with thier full body armour and sidearm every time I have been there. Why the hell these guys didn't deal with it is pathetic. The police aren't trained or even properly armed to shoot a panicked bear. People are truly clueless when it comes to bears. A small one can kill a child in no time. A spooked and defensive one is unpredictable and dangerous. I have killed my share of bears and have witnessed bears fighting at bait sites. They aren't something to screw around with in a subdivision. The police did what they are paid for. The MNRF dropped the ball. End of story.
Sorry Kunuka, I am on the other side. I was complementing the Cops on a job well done.
At one of my outposts I had 3 jerry cans chewed on and wrecked along with a barbeque demolished. Jerry cans were underneath the cabin and barbeque cleaned last fall.
At my 2nd outpost a bear was pushing on the patio door trying to enter the cabin. Tore the screen and left muddy paw prints and muddy shoulder marks on 2 windows. Neither place had garbage or any other food scents, he was just curious. But the bears needs to be shot!!! Legally of course.
still going after 9 pages time to stop http://www.lakesimcoeoutdoors.com/fo...cons/horse.gif and move on how well the MNR responded to a deer in a pool yesturday.
Supposedly the bear was going after the cops gun...
