Common Sence Approach to Employee Safety from Covid.

Due to the fact that being vaccinated DOESN'T prevent you from getting the virus anymore, big companies are starting to protect their employees with better screening. A far more common-sense approach.

The QR code Passport system is far too flawed and with 80-90% of the public fully vaccinated, it has already outlived its original concept of trying to stop the spread of the virus by isolating the unvaccinated. It's failure to recognize that the vaccinated are increasingly (over 30%) carrying the virus, the whole passport system has become redundant before even before being fully launched.

Kudos to Corporate America for acknowledging a better way.

Yea time to throw taxpayers money at the "Rapid Test' manufacturer...I see an Ontario PPE company in Waterloo, The Canadian Shield, sells antigen test kits “significantly” lower price than competitors.
Buy Canadian !!

Just have to get Doug to cough it up and buy a few million :)

I still don't know if his mother had him tested...he might very well be 'Verified' ... HaHa.

The people clamouring to be tested and "verified" are the unvaccinated. The refuseniks would rather have a long probe repeatedly shoved into and twisted around in the upper reaches of their sinus cavity and sit around until the results are available than take a vaccine that has been administered to over 11 million people in Ontario and 2.88 billion people world wide.

Even if the rapid antigen tests were a substitute for showing proof of immunization it is unlikely restaurants, cinemas, hockey arenas, football stadiums, convention centers, gyms, theaters, etc. would spend the extra money to satisfy the demands of a shrinking minority of vaccine hold outs.

Missing the point: Proof of immunization is no longer reliable. If the Government insists on trying to isolate those with the virus..it will have to use Rapid Testing. That's means everyone, repeatedly, every week.

Vaccine never ever stopped the transmission of COVID, you still get COVID, it's the severity of illness that it reduces, according to Ontario Stats ... you have a 70 times less likelihood to get severe enough conditions to require ICU, when compared to the unvaccinated population.

Despite this, I do think getting the vaccine should be a personal choice, and I think industry/society should have measures in place to accommodate both vaccinated and unvaccinated, so agreed, kudos to Apple Inc.

On the other hand, all I see in Ontario is companies demanding employees get the vaccine by a certain date, or they are out, and restaurants and public spaces (ex. hockey rinks) enforcing double vaccination entry.

I don't think they have the right reason to test unvaccinated for COVID vs. not testing for vaccinated. It should not be to isolate those that have COVID ... because as you say, then that should apply to both non-vaxxed and vaxxed. The reason is that they are complying with laws, right or wrong, that enable them to accommodate unvaccinated people, while operating legally.

In my view, and based on comments anti-vaxxers here have already stated, the unvaccinated is at greater risk to get covid in the presence of vaccinated, as the symptoms of COVID will likely be suppressed in vaccinated people (to the point where they are asymptomatic) ... and an unvaccinated person may unknowingly get COVID from someone who is vaccinated. That should be a reason for non-vaccinated to be cautious entering indoor environments that have a large population of vaccinated individuals ... and hence the QR code system.

There is two parts to a vaccines 'efficacy'. It was originally proven to have an efficacy of about 90+ % ..ie: effective in preventing you from catching and transmitting the virus. The other half of the vaccine's function, was was preventing serious illness in those who go infected by about 99%.

You can't transmit the virus unless your infected.

That efficacy has dropped to about 60% after 6 months, BUT it still prevents someone infected from becoming seriously ill.

What about all the people who are at risk and can't get the shots. Are they going to be more at risk with the health care workers being forced to get vaxxed?

Suppressing their symptoms could kill a valnerable person who cannot receive the shot.
