The nitro tires look good but the mud lite is tried tested and proven. Only downfall to the mud lite is that it will wear the center traction bar pretty quick on asphalt.

Gotta agree. I've had a set on my 700 for several years, and still lots of life left. The Mud Lites are good tires too, but use a softer rubber compound that makes them more susceptible to wear when used on hardpack surfaces.Quote:

I had a set of new ITP Mudlite 11, 2 years ago, could not balance 2 of them, one front and one rear, no matter, rotated them on the rims, added an insane amount of balance beads, no luck. On soft ground at low speed it wasn't noticeable, as soon as you hit hard ground and over 30 km/h, the whole ATV would shake like a paint shaker. Took them off and went back to more suitable tire, Carlisle AT489. Dealer recommended I go with them over a deep lug type tire which are a rougher ride.
If you want to save money check with a Polaris dealer for new takeoffs. For a while Polaris stock tires were really good with a aggressive thread. I think they are called PXT. That’s what I have on mine and like them. Unless your into serious mud bogging these will do just fine and save you money. Hopefully they’re the same size?
ITP Mud Lights are a great tire. I have had them on my 2015 Arctic Cat 550 limited and they have served me well. Lots of trial, snow and dirt road riding and still look brand new.
Well the deal with the ITP tires ended before I could order them, so I had to go with the Traxion. I will see how they hold up. I do really do anything extreme maybe occasionally but nothing like what some guy's do.
However I have never heard of balancing ATV tires and I have never seen any with weights and I asked the guy at the shop and he said he's never balanced them. I'm guessing you would have to go very fast to need balanced tires. The fastest I have ever gone is 70 km/hr and mostly stay around 50 on major forest roads in the woods I probably go less then 20. If I have the canoe or boat on top I'm definitely doing under 50.
Still can't believe I paid 450 for these tires.
They use the same tiny glass beads they use for motorcycle tires, take out the valve core and insert that way. For some tires it works, some tires are just made badly, just like car and truck tires.
Been there and tried that! The problem with the beads in the ATV tires is that once you hit a certain speed with a bigger tire they all bunch up in the throw out area of the tire and cause stability issues. If you are going to run a mud tire, simpler is always better. You can get a bad tire and I have but the manufacturer has always looked after that.

I could have bought two different sets before covid, used for 150 bucks but I tried to push the guy to 75, my bad I thought I would see more but there seems to be a run on used tires as well.
Right now major purchases are on hold until I make sure my contract is renewed in June or I get a new job I am working on in Sept.
I would have gone with the ITP muds as most recommended but I waited to long to ask on here on the deal ended.

I replaced the crappy stock tires on my Honda Rincon soon after I bought it in 2007 with Kenda Bearclaws. I still have them on the quad today and they still have plenty of life left.

Radials like the XTRs are heavy with more ply(6,8,10) They are definitely designed for “Big bore” Atvs. There’s a lot of great tire choices now, size and weight is important too the size of the machine. A lot of guys think bigger/beefer is better...I was one of those guys in my younger days lolQuote:
