This policy smacks of the internment camps for foreign nationals during WW2. Defy government orders and be swept up off the streets and held incognito until some government hack decides to release you while being handed a $3K bill from the hotel. This should make Canadians very,very uncomfortable.

Kept in rooms for sure. That's what quarantine means. The BS is not being able to order in food. The people I spoke with said when the hotel food wasn't acceptable they could order off the regular room service menu at extra charge (including booze) or order in and have it brought to their room.Quote:

You make it sound simple. Yes I can choose not to travel but if I don't travel my family goes hungry. Some jobs can't be done over a zoom call. My point is that it’s a lot of rhetoric. The quarantine is to try and protect the population. Are there flaws, yes. As we all know, every level of government is doing this on the fly. Some will argue to little to late. Others will argue, they aren’t doing enough. There is nothing they can do that will please everyone. People were warned about it in advance. Other than those victims of assaults that have been reported, I have zero sympathy for those that are whining about it.
The reckless infringement of civil liberties on a select group of the population without sound scientific evidence to back it up is of grave concern.
These people are being interned without actually being ill. Otherwise, they should be hospitalized if deemed to be.
Punished for the simple act of travelling on a pleasure trip. No different than business frequent flyers and I know a few.

Last I checked, Covid was a significant health concern. Hence the testing and quarantine.

No I don't qualify as essential although I believe all jobs are essential to the people that rely on them to put food on the table. I am not complaining about the quarantine it's now just part of my job wherever I go, but I do feel our governments current approach has gone from preventative to punitive and lacks proper scientific evidence. When you allow the government to break laws, take away freedoms and increase their power because of an emergency, they will always create an emergency.
