Except that many hunters are also shooters and have RPALs.

Oh, and don't forget, once the handguns are gone they will be coming for the semis and the pumps, those cannot be needed for hunting, they are guns of war.

Pretty soon it will be single shots only but stored at central facilities controlled by the government.

Searches and seizures? House by house searches? How will them make it inoperable???? cut it in half? Who will do the work? The govt will pay the $40 to have a plug welded into the $4000 three gun rifle is what it sounds like to me and you get to keep the $4000 now worthless decoration, that would probably get you in trouble if you hung it on the wall.

Will this apply only to center fire long guns, or rimfires as well? Will the Ruger 10/22 become a 5/22?

Or you could just set aside 1B to fight actual crime.... or not waste 1B at all....

That last line is too boring. Lol

It has been proven time and time again that even when you give them something they want more. If you let them ban handguns they will be back for your semis and then your pumps. The Allan Rock actually stated that the end goal was to eventually ban all guns in Canada.

That part of the platform is perhaps the most interesting. Previously they'd committed to giving municipalities the authority to ban handguns but now they are funding the province to ban them "across their jurisdiction." If you own handguns and want to keep them vote Doug Ford in 2022.

Exactly.

9/11 enabled drastic new powers to be seized on what was initially claimed to be a temporary emergency basis -- but then those powers became entrenched as a permanent feature of ordinary life. A similar thing is happening right now with policy-making around covid, banning certain guns under the guise of public safety, etc.

It’s not only assault rifles that Erin O’Toole wants to legalize. His promises to the gun lobby will bring in thousands of guns that have never been legal in Canada, like concealable pistols, combat shotguns, and anti-material rifles.

Pistols previously banned for their small size and concealability would also become available for purchase, like derringers and pocket pistols. Examples: Ruger LCP, Beretta Pico, RM380, DoubleTap

Semi-auto versions of small machine pistols would become legal for purchase. These have never been legal in Canada before. Examples: TEC-9, MAC-10, Uzi Pro, Steyr SPP
