Not much in it that will affect hunters beyond what's been done already. Their platform mostly repeats previous commitments. The new parts are:

A re-elected Liberal government will:

• Toughen our laws on banned assault weapons by making it mandatory for owners to either sell the firearm back to the government for destruction and fair compensation or have it rendered fully and permanently inoperable at government expense.
• Crack down on high-capacity magazines and require that long gun magazines capable of holding more than 5 rounds be permanently altered so that they can never hold more than 5 rounds
• Ban the sale or transfer of magazines that could hold more than a legal number of bullets, regardless of how they were intended to be used by the manufacturer.
• Set aside a minimum of $1 billion to support provinces or territories who implement a ban on handguns across their jurisdiction, to keep our cities and communities safe.

Except that many hunters are also shooters and have RPALs.

Oh, and don't forget, once the handguns are gone they will be coming for the semis and the pumps, those cannot be needed for hunting, they are guns of war.

Pretty soon it will be single shots only but stored at central facilities controlled by the government.

Just did the https://votecompass.cbc.ca/canada/ .... suggests PPC... well that would be a wasted vote, CPC and duh Tool are much much more likely to replace Justlied and the only viable option in my opinion.

A vote for the Libs/NDP/Bloc or Green is a vote to seize more and looking at the polls the only viable strategic vote is obvious. Libs say what ever will get them in power then show their true selves in power... Didn't Trudeau specifically say he wouldn't allow bans.... a good summary here.

Searches and seizures? House by house searches? How will them make it inoperable???? cut it in half? Who will do the work? The govt will pay the $40 to have a plug welded into the $4000 three gun rifle is what it sounds like to me and you get to keep the $4000 now worthless decoration, that would probably get you in trouble if you hung it on the wall.

Will this apply only to center fire long guns, or rimfires as well? Will the Ruger 10/22 become a 5/22?
