Most Toronto crime guns prohibited firearms

This article confirms that the Lieberals certainly have an ulterior motive and agenda when it comes to confiscating legally acquired firearms from their owners.

So banning stuff is an example of not really doing anything good but getting a vote from an uninformed person.

Also. Do nothing about the actual problem because you don’t care about that. Just care about getting that vote.

I’m not surprised that most of the firearms used were illegal in nature, what surprises me is that a significant number of firearms (about 44%) used in crimes were restricted or non-restricted.

It would be interesting to know more about the origin of the restricted/non-restricted firearms and how they came to be acquired. It’s hard not to get drawn into the gun debate when approximately 40% of the firearms used in crimes are not prohibited e.g. handguns smuggled across the border.

Better than it did for Justin........$610M in the hole and standing in the same shoes with the WTF just happened look on his face. I really gave up 4-5 months ago and have focused on the things I can really change and have ramped up my side business. I cannot get him to leave but I can sure stop financing his antics. a huge 5' x 8' island. I will post pics soon.......I just need to install the backsplash (tiles on backorder) and we are pretty much done.

100% of my friends and acquaintance's know I hunt and own firearms. 90% do not know the firearms laws. The only thing they know is that in Toronto young men carry guns and deal in drugs which results in death. They are now informed and are astounded by the failure of the courts and government to properly address the situation. Mandatory sentences are a must..immigration is out of hand..police have fewer powers to combat the situation and or are unwilling to do so for threat of reprisal..where is this going to end? That is the one thing they all agree on!

Why are you worried about mandatory sentences, the young men carrying guns and dealings in drug's are generally pretty good also at killing each other.

Even more so than covid if your under 50 the odds are better with covid.
More homicide victim's than deaths from covid 19 in people 50 and under. We live in such a war torn disaster in Canada lol.

The crazy just keeps getting worse nothing is getting better. Multiple stabbings and shootings going on in our area lately. Society isn't getting any better .

Well on the CBC this morning they stated that a certain town in Alberta the citizens decided to have a COVID PARTY and achieve herd immunity. I believe they said Edison, turns out now to have been a bad idea with them heading off to ICU's in a Province with ICU capacity at 90%. Apparently Alberta will be asking Ontario to take patient's.

Apparently crushing cops with cars is the new thing.......out on bail within weeks.

You have it backwards -- these things are unfortunately so highly racialized and politicized that they only care about the latter as over a year of race riots have indicated. "If it bleeds, it leads"

The police who genuinely try to help these communities get actual garbage thrown at them upon arrival. All the liberal money thrown against the wall for awareness campaigns and programs never sticks. The root problems are never addressed. And cooperation with the police in any capacity is seen as weak or treasonous among these cultures.

You can't polish a turd, and it's hard to save something that doesn't want to be saved.

Well having served in one of these communities I can tell you that 95% or more of the folk's living there are not engaged in criminal behavior. The 5% that are and are drug dealings, robbing people, pimping, are the criminal class and consist of both
black and white criminal's and many colors in between. Its a life style they have chosen, they want to "dance with the devil"
and I did not care when they killed each other. I don't think many other folks care, unless its an innocent bystander and the level of concern from the whole of society depends on the color of the victim's skin. We saw clear evidence of it with the Jane Creba, The Eatons Centre shootings, Danforth shootings, Just Desserts, coffee house shootings on Davenport Road.

Yes, that is really what it is all about. The general public doesn't know enough about firearms and their responsible uses, not to be stampeded by fear of people legally owning firearms. Guns are a tool used to kill people and anyone who owns a gun legally or otherwise is a potential mass murder. Better put any gun regardless of who owns and uses it, is an instrument capable of mass murder. It is never a question of who holds the firearm, its the potential that the firearm has to make killing people easy. Guns are dangerous you have every right to live in fear of them, that is the idea which continues to drive the banning of firearms. Until the public is educated and lifted out of their ignorance of firearms, they will continue to be driven in most cases by unrealistic fear. Gun control doesn't make the public any safer, it simply continues to instill the idea that guns are to be feared.

I didn't realize you were an officer. It's a sad state of affairs in those areas but I think one of the reasons that people may have been desensitized (up until recently, since race & racial politics have been ramped up like crazy) is because of the sheer volume of shootings. It looses it's shock value.

I don't think the concern correlates to the skin colour, but rather lifestyle choices. A young beauty queen, varsity athlete, honour roll student, who is enrolled in a PHD program and just got back from building a church in a poor country, her senseless and highly-preventable death at the hands of a careless drive by shooting with illegal weapons by someone with multiple convictions and no moral compass is perhaps the definition of tragic. It's a huge loss for us as a society.

Funny how everything is blamed on racism nowadays.

Well my job was to serve and protect and the protection of life is the most important. But the police are not miracle workers
and we cannot protect folk's who engage in criminal behavior and decided to "dance with the devil". So if an informant tells
me that "Mousie just got killed last night" I would not feel to bad for Mousie, him being a drug dealer and a gunman. If the same informant tells' me the shooter name I am not going to ignore that information. As you know a prosecution of these types of citizens is hard because of lack of witness's willing to come forward and the gunman's family in the same lifestyle
consider it the cost of doing business and probably will retaliate and kill the other shooter. Is society generally worried, not really IMHO. I say this because they are not even worried if a bye stander of color is killed accidently.

The article makes a lot of generalizations that don't align with law enforcement stats,especially,firearm-related suicides as compiled by the FBI in their annual reports. Granted,this past year and a half may be an anomaly with Covid-19 fearmongering hysteria by the media.
