The fee associated with the renewal of a Possession and Acquisition Licence will be increasing every year on March 31.

The online renewal is great. I've used it for my last two renewals and from application to arrival in the mail box took two weeks each time.

I used it last year, and from hitting submit to card in hand was 13 days.

I must say I was skeptical at first....but after doing it online this year I can't believe how easy and quick it was

You should be getting it soon, unless there is an issue..I got mine in about 4 weeks.

Ten days for mine. Because my son had a bout of depression after he closed his trucking business 8 years ago,his renewal is taking almost a year to wend it's way through the bureaucracy.

mine took just under 4 weeks to come.

Minors License cannot be online. Sent my sons in second week of Jan and still waiting.
Did mine online 3 weeks ago and still not processed.

Yes just got mine. Great system didn’t take no time at all.

I was Miss diagnosed with depression but in the end it was diagnosed as sleep deprivation (sleep Apnea) back 15 years ago , do they contact or keep you hanging

If you had declared in a previous application or renewal that you had suffered from depression that may have "flagged" your application on
the CPIC system under a sub section CFIP (Canadian Firearms Interest Police) basically a catch all where there might be some concern.
In which case the Canadian Firearms Centre in Miramichi NB may or may not have sent your application on for a secondary review.

What that means is that the application gets sent to the OPP HQ in Orillia and then either gets reviewed there by a Local Firearms Officer
or if its a Municipal Police Service gets sent to one of their Local Firearms officers.

Generally this can be cleared up in a phone call between you and the local firearms officer, who may or may not be a police officer, civilians can be designed across the country.

The main problem is how backed up are the officers doing the reviews and how long will it take them to pull your application for review.

If I was you I would confirm with the Canadian Firearms Centre that your application has been sent to OPP, I would then call the OPP in Orillia and ask to speak with a local firearms officer to give them a nudge along.

If you completed your application on-line, and your significant other was not available to sign it electronically, your app. will be forwarded to a firearms officer, who will call and interview your spouse. This is another reason for a delay….

I will give it a few more weeks then start looking for phone numbers to call sorta glad I started process early still have a few months before PAL is up

They're keeping him hanging. Since that time,he and the wife split,so,there'll be that,too. She's trying to hang on like a junkyard dog,never missing an opportunity to yank his chain. Police know how to handle vindictive women and it won't be an issue. Still,though,it's just one more thing as firearm owners we need to deal with.

Sent mine in by snail mail back in Feb. but noticed the Visa charge in March so I should get it soon ?

just checked my credit card and it was charged Feb 2nd

Still no sign of card in my mailbox ? I guess that's why they (Federal government) grants a 6 month amnesty because they are so slow ? LoL !

The CFC, has seen a reduction in staff processing applications and renewals. The info is classed as Protected, so cannot be administered by someone working from home.

So yes....there is a backlog.

Took 4 1/2 weeks for mine from application to arrival in the mail.

Well I am at 1.5 months for my renewal done online and still nothing, mine does not expire until Oct.

Did my son's in Jan and his expired Feb 28 so he's at 2.5 months and nothing.

Starting to think you will need to apply about 1 - 2 years before your card expires.

Online renewal took me 6 weeks, received it last week.

started mine Feb 2nd 2022 and on April 12th 2022 i emailed asking if there was a hold up, the reply was to check back in another four weeks so some time mid May 2022. wishing the CRA was as slow asking for money LMAO

My youngest son (22 year old) applied for his first time ever during the first week of January. Initial application has to be by snail mail and because new i was expecting super long processing time based on recent reports on here. His card arrived in the mail the last week of April. So 3.5 months for new applicant by snail mail. Faster than i expected.

So interesting I applied for my card on March 12 and have not received it yet. My hunting partner applied for his April 20 and he got his yesterday. My son applied for his Jan 9 (Minors) and they can't find it, but I know they received it as they had to sign for it.

Rick…they charged your credit card on Feb 2 and THIS WEEK they said it was approved ? Good lord that’s a wait in between

I applied for my RPAL at the end of March and nothing yet…I imagine that takes longer

Finally got mine. Took 2 months.

Still have not gotten my sons and I sent his in Jan

Maybe that is not that bad after all;)There is a leg to stand on in a case of "issues" with the licence.

You took my money on Feb 2.nd for renewal-so it is not "on me" anymore.:scream:

Came home from work 9pm Friday see flag up on mail box slowly made my way up to it, looked inside and yes there it was the brown envelope with my new card in. I feel like Charlie at the chocolate factory getting the golden ticket LMAO
