Hey folks,
I'm assuming there's still quite a lot of ice on the lakes up in Haliburton... with milder weather FINALLY here, when do you think ice-out will happen on most smaller and mid-sized lakes?
Cheers

Well if today is any indication there's open water half way up the kake on Scugog. I would think around the end of the month up in the Haliburton area...
Lots of open water on simcoe yesterday . Probably lots of ice too just shifting around with the winds.

As of this morning, the ice is completely out on Scugog. Anyone heading out this weekend just be careful and on the lookout for particialy submerged logs or floating debree..
Depending on the lake, it's usually April 20 - May 5 till ice is in Dorset - Haliburton - Minden area for the larger lakes.
i live in Haliburton(well eagle lake just outside)... ice is still in but pulling away from shore quickly. i think another 10 -12 days.
Tuesday 18c and sun should do some damage to the ice. Not sure in Haliburton but we have had a good amount of nights here above freezing
I'm going with April 18th.
I live on the Trent..Upper Buckhorn Lake ( part of the tri-lakes ) Ice been gone a week now. The highlands ice out 2 weeks later. Might be a "Good Friday ".
checked a couple smaller lakes around me today that hold splake and still some floating ice and with the wind we have had there are some pile ups near shore but should be all gone by the end of the week.
