In most cases, those governments turned to reindoctrination camps (gulags in Russia, torture camps in Cambodia,Viet Nam,China) where political opponents were imprisoned on trumped up charges suppoted by fake news stories, political rhetoric like calling people who don't agree with particular political dogma "low information voters" or "great deplorables" (Hillary Clinton ,in particular, comes to mind). President Reagan remarked at one time that "If communism ever comes to America,it will come at the hands of the Liberal". If we closely examine the tactics of leftist political parties,we clearly see the adoption of Marxist/Leninist/Mao communism media propaganda ,political correctness edicts to mold public behavior through cancel culture which actually started in earnest with the advent of National Socialism in Germany after the end of WW1 which ultimately led to WW2. Communist regimes soon found the ideal weapon to promote their sick anti-freedom and liberty ideology. No other glaring example of that can be found anywhere other than right here in Canada at the indoctrination educational policies of the leftist academia.
