Was in Orillia last night and this morning. Severe damage to trees and power was out. Hydro crews heading north on hwy 11 to provide support but going to be awhile before power is restored.
From about 12:45am to 6pm today no power, Honda saved my day, switching between fridge/freezer and sump pump, which hasn't run for about 15 years or more, but after this rain, no wonder. There's still water in the ditches that are dry 99% of the time. Some spots in Barrie look like the Jolly Green Giant went on a stomping fest so many trees and branches down.
Yeah the Honda is still running its extension cord city lol. We have half the house running off it even the water is on .
They say our time to be restored is apr 1 11pm not sure if that's change . But there is flickers of life near by so it maybe sooner.
What a mess

NBeen without power, internet, since Friday afternoon. From what I’ve been told it will be April 2 nd before power is restored here. Couldn’t stand it anymore. Checked into the hotel on Scugog island at the casino for a night. Showered for about a 1/2 hr , shaved , put on some clean clothes and feel a whole lot better. Going to head home about 9:30 to reload the generator. I e got too much in the fridges and freezer . Hoping to not loose any of it.
Now I know what it must have been like years ago when they had that ice storm east of us down Ottawa way…
I can see the lights on from my bedroom window but probably won't see power for another day or 2. Had to consolidate the freezers and put the fridge food into the camper propane fridge. Been babysitting my 2 sump pumps since 3 am Sunday morning and had little to no cell service until this evening. This is getting expensive.
Power was restored here outside of Barrie lastnight. I was without power since Friday around 4:30pm. The generator was running steady. The sump pump ran about every 5 minutes. Thankfully we lost no food. I was able to run everything off my generator. Cell service and internet was pretty much non existent. I had to drive around to get signal and see what the wait times for restoration was like. All in all 2 days without wasn't bad, but I wouldn't want to go much longer than that.
Our power has been delayed until tomorrow 9pm that's what it says anyway. Another big storm tomorrow so I dout they'll get much done tomorrow.

Mine just came on around 1:30 this afternoon. The Street behind us still out though. Don't worry FF they are finally catching up around here so won't be long. The back roads still had poles down yesterday.
We were very fortunate and only out for a little over 24 hours, but Peterborough and Lindsay are apparently still quite a mess. Not warm either at -5 last night….some people must be having some long cold dark nights …not everybody has a generator and/or woodstove…
Yeah we have gone through five 5gal so far ill be dipping into the next can shortly.
It was a joke for the price of gas it was 121 when I filled the car this morning now it's back up to 136 lol. Didn't save much as I still had over half a tank when I filled.

Power has been out at my place since 12:30pm Saturday and I can't see it coming back on any time soon.
generator is rolling and woodstove is pumping out the heat so no worries at my place.
They were true to their word. They said power would be restored today around 6-6:30. Came back on at 5:10…. Hats off to those linemen….
Yeah ours came back on a few hours before before the estimated time yesterday. 2pm yesterday it came back on.
Someone we know had their lines ripped out from the house hydro came and cut the line at the rd and said your on your own and need to call an electrician yikes. We talked to someone else yesterday who had the same problem and cut it at the rd.
Others in the area have been pushed out till Friday before they get the power going as 3 poles came down on the rd behind them.

I got power at 1:30pm yesterday
really surprised with all the damage around me. thanks to all the Hydro crews working around the clock to restore power
Still out here in Oro, restoration is April 7th at 10:00 pm. Generac is working flawlessly. I shut it down earlier today and gave it a much deserved oil change.
Still no power at the cottage since Saturday morning. Not quite sure when it will be back either as the damage to lines is quite severe. Spent 2 days cleaning up all the downed trees and branches around the property. Thankfully no structures were damaged but lost the little food I had in the fridge/freezer.
For those of you who live in the Port Perry area fuel on the island is 117.9
Unfortunately some will still be out of power for awhile. I could still hear the generators running yesterday and lots on the sts behind me.

There will be a native gas station opening up in near us soon.
Funny I paid 133 in orillia little over a month ago . Shell at the corner was 137 the other day. Mind you it was 149 here when the gas in orillia was 133 even cheaper than Costco gas.

New Brunswick Hydro just arrived with 13 of their trucks over in Minden ready to lend a hand. We welcome them with open arms and thank them for their service!
Good luck renting a wood chipper. Anywhere within a 50km radius of Barrie has wait lists. At least the dump will take tree branches for free in the month of April.
hopefully the City of Kawartha Lakes gives their heads a good shake and removes the fire ban for the month of April so people can get rid of some of the debris
Finally got power yesterday around 5pm
I didn't know this was a thing until a few people from work mentioned it. We can burn in Georgina.
Good news for me there's plenty of wood mulch available for free delivery I've been stockpiling it to use around my place. It seems like nobody has a plan where to get rid of it all.
Who thinks the hydro will spike in the coming months? Someone's going to be paying for a lot of damage that was done.
The taxpayers are already on the hook for cleanups.

might not be that silly if you consider before green up there is alot of last year tinder on the ground a few days of strong sunlight that grass dries out making probability of a grass fire high. Now with all those branches on the ground very reasonable it can get out of control real fast.
