Another nice guy, I love it.
Good on you this forum is full of good people second person this week.
God bless you bud, as they say.. honesty will take you a long way. and also I hope you do find the owner.
Bump. Still got 'it.'
Let me know. Anyone in the KW that shoots ducks should ask around. Don't wanna execute my rights under 'finders keepers law.'
Another bump.
Thanks Wayne
hey. i dont shotgun hunt but i had a thought.
i fish the spot you're talking about and have had good luck. there's a part of the river that is public land and you only see minnonite families out there, but it's rare. say if i were to take a bow up there and hit a few geese hanging out by the river, would i be the first hunter to jump in there?
I'd be completely out of sight from people and not tresspassing as all river is technically crown land. it's out in the middle of no where so there really is no law against firing a firearm, or is there?
thoughts?
You would be best to check with the local authorities about the discharge laws, a bow is under the same laws, there are some strict laws in the area, definitely there are trespass laws. While you may not be trespassing while standing in the river, what about the goose that lands on the shore, or flies 25 yards and drops. The river tends to be a roosting area, be prepared to take the flack for shooting up a roost, the birds will only hang around for that a couple of time, then the hunting is spoiled for all.
I have a unique idea, if you want to hunt there, why not go up to the farmhouse, knock on the door and politely ask for permission to hunt their property? Explain that you bow hunt so it is quiet, there is no mess like shell casings, offer them a goose, even if you only get one, give it to them, they will welcome you back. Once you do it a few times, it becomes easier. I just got back from visiting some landowners with a buddy, we were thanking them again for allowing us to hunt last year, and ensuring we can hunt again this year... there was one property I have not hunted for 2 years... I am still welcome and still the only person allowed.
Don't forget to get your duck stamp and waterfowl permit, you still need one even with the bow.
Don't return it for free, Wayne. I hate people who don't care about their valuables... Ask them to give 20 bucks donation to OFAH or something similar.
That sounds pretty stupid.
Are you telling me you've never lost anything of value? I think what we need is honest people who will return what's not theres for free... No strings attached. How does it affect you whether or not someone eles takes good care of there stuff?
Are you saying dont return it to the owner without making them pay?
You have got to be kidding me. If you found something of mine and told me to pay to get it back, id pay you thats for sure. But not with money.
I remember a coulpe years ago someone tried that with a guy around town. This random guy found someones cellphone, and when the owner of the cellphone went to see this guy to get it back, the guy wanted like $300 otherwise he wouldnt return his phone. Well needless to say, that guy never got $300, but he got his arse handed to him, a bloody face and a broken ego.
Wow! Would never think my post will provoke so angry reaction. Seems like all of you just read the first sentence of the post and started to scream right away. I didn't say 'pay for the return', but i said make something good for the community as the response to a good gesture. Big difference, I think.
I would never ask for the money to pay in return to lost stuff. Actually, I had never sold even my own things... If I need it I keep it, if not - give it away to somebody how needs it.
Anyways... I really regret about this post. Would never think it will look that bad. But probably it is, as many people react this way....Really sorry.
Never claimed. Coming up on a year since I found it. Looks like I'll have to buy a new gun to make use of what I found....
What was it?
Come on... Tell us!... Lol
Prbly a red dot
Did you leave a note where you found the item?
Might want to dig a little deeper into the area you are talking about... To my knowledge there is no "crown land" in the area. I suspect the area you are speaking of is either private property or GRCA property ... If you want to hunt GRCA property, you will need to contact them to purchase a permit and rules and guidelines. Hunting is not allowed on all GRCA properties.
Thats exactly what I was thinkin.....OFAH great oraganization but def a stupid idea!! If I lost something that was valuable (even if it was just to me) I would hope there would be more people out there that would try and return it to me out of the good of their heart not expecting a payout!!
If ye dont need it and really wanna get rid of the item...maybe you can use some of what MArkD suggested and auction the item off and donate the cash to the OFAH..............or like ye said buy a new shotty lmao who doesnt love new guns and accessories.
good on ye for tryin to return it to the owner tho.
