Need to know what's a good accurate slug gun.
My 870 is very accurate...AS LONG AS IT IS CLEAN!!!... Plastic left behind in its rifling from sabots cause it to be inconsistent ...
Price range? Preference new, used, semi, pump, bolt, single, o/u, or s/s. With practice find out what ammo works best from your gun. Although you can have two identical slug guns, they may prefer different brands of ammo. How far out are you looking at shooting as well?
The Savage 220 bolt guns and the H&R Ultra Slug Hunters (single shot) are both very accurate slug guns.
My 20g Bps deer hunter with rifled barrel shoots 2" groups at 100 yards with ease and looks good doing it
50 to 100 yards tops 60 acres bush.not to $$$ but good accurate
or...870 12 or 20 ga. with cantilevered rifled barrel. 20 ft, to 200 yards. Lots of options available for the 870, and easy to find. Actually have one for sale , if you're interested.:D

Can't go wrong with a savage 220, 9" gong at 250 yds with Remington 3" accutips 12 shots 12 hits (that was a professional test that was published, not me:)). 20 ga slug is superior to the 12 in flight plus contains enough energy for deer sized game and has a light kick to the shooter.
Savage 220 for me....:goodstuff:
I agree with what Scott says 100%. But if money is an object, for about $300, you can buy an H&R Ultra slug hunter deluxe, and have the same kind of results. Only thing is, it's a single shot. I have two, in 12 and 20, and love them. The 20 is my favourite though.
I have a 12 guage 870 smoothbore with a rifle sighted slug barrel that is very accurate with 2.75" challengers. Just picked up a cantilevered rifled slug barrel for my 20 guage 870 but haven't had a chance to wring it out yet. B525
The 220 savage is unreal. You get what you pay for. I bought the stainless barrel with camo synthetic. Last slug gun I will ever buy. Devastating and accurate out past 200 yards....especially with my DOA 3x9.
If there's one thing I have learned about guns...it's buy your last gun first.
870, rifled barrel, sabot slugs, should cost around $700-800 brand new. Very accurate...check out my video on the big game page to see the accuracy in action ;)
Check out this guy's deer hunt using the H&R Ultra slug gun in 20g.

That at was pretty sweet. I LOVE mine. Killed a buck at 157 yards with it this year as he loped across a corn field. They are CRAZY accurate.
I think the key is buying a gun that's designed to shoot slugs first. Built like a rifle more or less. While many other shotguns can and do shoot very accurately with a slug barrel and a load that it "likes", they're still designed to be a shotgun first, slug gun second.
I am in the market as well and after lots of research, if looking for a dedicated gun that wont break the bank, there are always the mention of 2. and they of course were mentioned here, the H&R, and the Savage. Just waiting for the right deal now on one of them and I will own a slug gun:-)
H&r slug hunter is best bang for your buck. Have one and savage 220. Both are great guns.
Savage all the way. Last one I owned put three shots measuring 2.5 inches at 200 yards....
