Any one planning to head out to Hullett tomorrow should be aware. We are hearing reports of a shooting in the area today. Several other rumors circulating on Facebook but I can not confirm any of them.

Horse back rider was shot and killed, the other was injured, Hullet is closed, apparently it happened in there. [second hand info]

Really? Someone died? Wish they would confirm this in the news.
We were in the a zone hunting geese when about 40 mins before dark a guy came up to us on the Dyke(which he was also hunting, against the rules), and asked what we were driving and told us our car had been broken into and the cops were out looking for someone.
We packed up and headed back in and the other guys were packing up to leave in the lot as well. He told us the cops were everywhere and that they had stopped them with ar15 and made them put there guns down. The cops said they saw my car doors open but they were looking for someone.
We got packed up noticed that nothing had been stolen, just moved around and we left the marsh. Passed 6 cop cars in the way into town. None of them stopped us and since nothing appeared stolen from my car so we had no reason to talk to them.
Than we got home to see someone got shot? I wonder if it was a hunter shooting or something else. Wow, wish they would release some more news.

There seems to be lots of speculation without any information. There's nothing on any of the national wire feeds and only a small blurb,locally. If indeed,there was a shooting/murder,there would be no way to keep info contained. It would be all over every media outlet in North America. Sit tight and wait.
Another factor at play is the complete gutting of staff at all newspapers. The local papers barely put out any news reports on the weekends because of cutbacks due to the newspaper market's inability to figured out a way to make money from the internet.
Called the police and they took all my info. They wouldn't tell me anymore information than is available online.
Seems like a lot of rumours flying around to me. Its funny, when horseback riders get involved with hunters, the BS starts flying.
I find it very, very odd that bowj could be hunting hullet and not get stopped or questioned by police.
Something fishy going on for sure.

Sinker my guess is this is not hunting related , my friends tell me they have a chopper there currently and still have many roads blocked around hullet

The shooting was not in Hullet, but in the area just to the west.
Strange, the article says 5pm saturday. I left Wingham about noon, there were cops with lights on heading that way all the way to Petrolia. Figured had to be something up. But we saw all the cruisers from about 1 to 2pm

The police sure are being tight lipped about the events. Makes me wonder if they aren't clueless as to what happened as well. Im sure theres a reason though. If you know the marsh, it is very extensive and in some places hard to access, so a search would be a nightmare there.

This was not a hunting accident. Reports are the victim was shot from the road. If you check the dogs forum you will find details.
The media reported some details yesterday but then took those reports down, which suggests the cops have reasons they are witholding info & have asked media to cooperate.
From what I have read, the police have not mentioned anything about this being a hunting accident.

My big concern is this a animal rights activist shooting hunters to try and make a point, are we all at risk here? should we stay away from Hullett. They really do need to tell people what the hell is going on. Come 2 weeks from now that place is going to be filled with hunters and if they have the slightest suspicion that there is a threat to hunters there or anywhere they should really say something, Until I know more information I'm not going there or any other crown land.

No, not really. The investigators will not release information that may jeopardize the investigation. They have to be very careful now, with the advent of social media. Information now is instantaneous. The suspects could very well be monitoring news releases and any other information bits that get reported. But, if there were any public safety issues, those would certainly be released.Quote:

I am not surprised at the connection with Wynn he is a horseback field trialer and she has a face fit for a bridle.
Seems he won some sort of "national open shooting dog championship" in 2005 and some other national championship that year. Lots of pointer pics on his facebook.
From the dates on some of the photos,I wonder if he knew that a week later,he'd be wanted for Murder 1 and Attempt Murder on a Canada wide warrant? This shows that life can change in a heartbeat. He likely bailed out of the country within hours.
