I have at least 1 skunk living under my house and need any and all suggestions as to how to lure it out and into a trap. I can see clearly where it is going in and out and have tried unsuccessfully to block access as everything I put there, the skunk just moves it or digs under it. When it sprays under the house my entire house fills with the stench, so this has to stop. HELP
I've always been told sardines
Live trap with bait. Then when its caught call animal control and tell them you think it's rabid. They will take it away.
It's breeding season , that's what is causing the spraying , they have other things on their mind now then food so they a little tougher to trap now , I had my first call of this spring the other day , same deal I could smell the essence in the air before I got out of my truck, it looks like you are a little south of my service area or I'd offer to help you out
Any ideas as to what I can do to try and lure it out from under the house?
I'd need more details as to what you are dealing with ? Pics would help even more , you said it keeps digging around the stuff you fill in ?
I had skunks under my shed last spring. I tried raw eggs and fish but caught nothing. Then a friend told me to use peanut butter and the next day it was in the trap.
If you can't trap it and you have no other choice you can put some hershy bars down the hole the skunk is using...They love to eat them but it's a last meal. Kinder then antifreeze, because they feel happy and then just go to sleep.
My dad got rid of one under his house by stuffing newspaper in his entrance hole and then when the paper was pushed out (skunk has left) he pushed a bunch of grills (oven or fridge I think) that he had cut in half down into the ground in front of the area where the skunk was going in. Skunk dug but hit grill and abandoned. Might be worth a shot, at least then you don't have to deal with a skunk in a trap.
Send your neighbours dog under the house.

Buy a leg hold trap from cabelas. 10 bucks. Put a bit of food out and your off to the races.
I would blast Nickelback under the house with the bestest loudest speakers you can find. That will drive any beast or man out for good.
Live trap, with sardines as bait.
Once trapped, approach with a blanket held wide in front of you, and talk softly.
Drape the blanket over the trap, and leave for a few minutes, the skunk will not spray in a enclosed space.
Put in the back of a truck, and drive a minimum of 12 km away from your house, prop end of trap open ( with blanket still on) and eventually the little bugger will walk out and amble on his way. ( or leave blanket on and throw in a lake, wait until bubbles stop coming up, and then dump contents, either works).
No live traps. Keep the pelt.
get a live trap move it out from the house and kinda brush it in somewhere.......put a jar filled with marshmallows and sardines with holes drilled in the lid to let out the smell and viola .....you will have him in no time......after that you can throw something over the cage to darken it so it wont spray or if it does at least not on you.....then either relocate or .......ummmm otherwise

It's a stupid regulation but the government wants to mitigate the possible transmission of disease - at least that was what was explained to me.
Like I said. The OP can do what he likes. But in a professional environment years ago, trapped raccons / skunks received a spray paint tag at the base of the tail, before we re-located them. we found anything under 12 km would result in just burning gas. 1km literally meant it would be 20mins, and they'd be back.Quote:

as you can see from the pic , you most certinly dont need to go to extreme methods like some suggest to capture skunks ,heck they can even be caught 3 at a time
Now that is just plain impressive!!^^^^^^
