Ok. So I don't like them but they're here to stay. Several of the fields I have access to have the wind turbines now. Farmer still owns the fields but now there's a gravel road leading two and from the wind turbines. I was curious if they are any federal or provincial regs regarding hunting in fields that have wind turbines. Any help is greatly appreciated.
The only thing I can think of is to check your township 'discharge' by-laws to see what the restriction for shooting near a building is.
I'm sure the owners of the Turbines wouldn't be to happy about having someone hunting around them, they may have a clause in the lease with the landowner.
I have used one to sneak up on a buck in the field, then I used it to steady my gun to take the shot. So if there are any regs I'm sure i broke every one of them

As long as you have permission to hunt on private property,I'm sure that you're good to go. Farmers lease the property to the windmill people. That doesn't give them the right to restrict what the owner does with the property. Other than some dope deliberately damaging the turbines,there's no laws,anywhere,that restrict hunting.Quote:

We have seen many "No Trespassing " signs around these wind turbines.
That only restricts access to the turbines,themselves. The property owner has full control who may access the property. Leases only cover the actual ground the turbine sits on,exactly the same as Hydro towers on private property..Quote:

3 windmills on the one 200 acre farm we hunt. I like the windmill laneways for getting down closer to the bush. The farmer has the contract for snow blowing it all the time so its always cleaned out for me too.
Be careful after freezing rain. I have seen spots in wide open fields where huge shards of ice have came off the blades when they first start turning after rain or a flash freeze.
Well a buddy of mine and the group he hunts with lost their deer hunting area around Shelburne, they were told by the OPP that the area is off limits to hunting and they would be charged with trespassing if they didn't leave . This happened a number of years ago and to this date no one hunts there.Quote:

In that case,they were likely on OPG or Hydro property.It would definitely be a restricted area the same as any other generating station. Many turbines are on private property and leased. As such,these properties may be hunted with owner's permission.Quote:

We have hundreds of pinwheels in Chatham-Kent. I know of a landowner who refused to sign a contract for his farm, because there is a no hunting clause in the fine print. We hunt around them all winter for coyotes. We haven't been approached by anyone, even their security people don't bother. I heard at one time that the companies were trying to get legislation that prohibited hunting within 1000 meters of a turbine.......that would pretty much end all hunting in Charham-Kent, so I can't see that being any more than rumours !

The landowner won't have any involvement in zoning changes. They lease out the land for the 20-25 year term. The turbines are considered an industrial facility and the land (usually about an acre) that they sit on is then zoned industrial. All the landowner sees and has to deal with is their cheques rolling in and their neighbors moving out.Quote:

McGuinty's green energy act (backed by Andrea Horwath) dismantled any opportunity for the municipality to have a say in these projects.
Just like the 4 land owners around Goderich that are now stuck with paying over $340,000.00 dollars to the Windmill Corp. because they lost their challenge/ objection to having them in close proximity to their land also stating health reasons that were shoot down in the courts.Quote:
