I think I am going to sit it out today, but I might just be sick on Monday and my medicine is sitting in the stand!!
This weekend is my grouse opener, next weekend will be my xbow deer opener, hoping to get my first this year!
Wrong wind for me too. I really don't like hunting when its raining. I need a good blood trail in the swamp I hunt. Noticed no cars out this morning on my drive around.
First opener I've missed in a while too. Strong east wind and rain here.
I'm with you guys, I sat out this morning too. Looking good for a Sunday morning bow hunt though, can't wait!
I guess I was in the minority, the east wind was actually good for one of my stands in a hardwood bush. Even had some pre-shooting light action (at least 3 different deer came down the trail off an alfalfa field). Once the rain came in though the bush went dead. Might sneak out for the afternoon if the rain holds off here. Good luck and good aim this season folks!

I went out this morning. Pretty quiet. Wind kept changing direction on me.
Brother and I went out. Didn't see anything and one of my best cams I hope only has dead batteries. Lol changing them when I go back tonight
Pouring rain here this morning kept me at home. Don't like the idea of blood trails being washed away. Might make it out tomorrow morning if our 6 day old baby girl cooperates

To early for me, I generally wait for the leaves to start to drop
After growing a food plot, setting stands and patterning some great bucks I set out for a hunt and the landowner informed me she no longer wants anyone on her property. So disappointed. Not a good start to my deer season.
"2016-17 opener" - did I miss something? Was the season extended into 2017?

Private land is getting harder to get each year, when I first started bow hunting I could knock on any farmer's door and ask to bow hunt - always got the same response: "Bow hunt??? Was out on my stand for the first time on Monday. Sat still 15' up in my ladder stand contemplating life, squirrels, a grouse flushing in a nearby thicket and the colours of fall from 6:30 to 9:25.... The doe stopped 5yds away from the base of my tree to have a leak and a crap and then moved along in the direction I was hearing the sounds originally.
After she wandered her way out of sight I finally saw what had been making the "deer like" sounds, 3 good sized bearded turkeys pecked and foraged their way across my area at about 20 yds. Seemed appropriate for thanksgiving day!
Great way to start the season for me! I was tickled.
Tough to hear ryan o ive been refused also for this year only, unfortunately the wife is ill and they want some peace. Have been praying for her all year , things are looking up though. Fortunately i have another farm down the road to try.
