One of the biggest support area's for the PC's is in the rural southwestern part of Ontario.
Basically farm country.
Support for Ford here is low.
If Ford won the leadership some of the closer ridings would mostlikely be lost by the PC's.
I hope he does, would be great to see him as premier
He is a local attraction for his part of Toronto, could just be posturing , for a run at the mayors job. I hope the cons, have better than that to offer.

I hadn't even heard of the 600 members walking but the nonsense with Brown and the nomination meetings showed a real problem months ago.

The Trillium Party is growing quickly with a staggering 600 members from one riding alone (King – Vaughan) switching from PC to Trillium, immediately followed by 24 of their 29 member directorship forming the King – Vaughan Riding Association.
I wonder how long it would take for one if the #metoo crusaders to take down Ford also? They are on a roll if you haven't noticed. Next time it could happen the day before the vote.

If Trump can win in the US, I’d say Ford can win in Canada.
I disagree. The PCs have to make headway in Toronto to lead the next government. I think the vitriol for the Liberals and most left leaning policies in rural Ontario will trump any negativity Ford's name has in those ridings. The north will vote NDP as it mostly always has.Quote:

Does Ford have work to do in rural Ontario? Yes. Absolutely. His brother's issues will no doubt be a big doubt in the minds of voters. However, he is not his brother. Unfortunately Monty McNaughton is not entering the race. Looks like Doug Ford is the only one in the race so far. :(
