Bear Steals Deer from Hunter

Good for a laugh...

We've had the discussion on this forum as to the need to carry a bear tag when the go deer hunting..who would have thought it would be to protect your deer..LOL...

Would it be illegal to put a round into the tree next to the bear??

I know I’d be making a lot of noise, dirt and bark would be flying !!

That's the exact reason I buy a Bear tag every year. BANG!! End of problem with extra meat and a beautiful pelt.

What a revolting development that turned out to be! :scream:

Why not just shoot a few rounds in the air

Now that would be an interesting thread all sorts of points to debate.
Would it be considered baiting?
Could you be charged with not immediately sealing the deer at site of kill?
Is it protecting your property as you haven't tag it yet?
My thinking if you don't have a bear tag and the bear doesn't want to easily give it up you're shi* out of luck and thank goodness you had the camera cause no one would believe your story.

My guess is he was bow hunting. If not a couple rounds in the air would scare that bear back to its den.

(9mm ? ...who hunts deer with a 9 mm ? ..unless it was just his sidearm)

So,what do you do? Without a Bear tag,there's no way the Bear could be shot,besides,if she had cubs,it would be tough to take her out even if you had a tag...at least,it would be for me. If she's that desperate for food and she won't leave,there isn't a lot of choice except to let her have the Deer. I think I'd be buggering off right quick. A sow with cubs over a kill is absolutely no place to be.

He's a guy who's been a hunter for 50 yrs....so not his first time at the rodeo in regards to bears....

Your right Trimmer....he did the right thing..walk away, hope he can find the rack later..just for the story telling of course :)

I doubt I'd tell anyone about it. Not one of my crew would believe that story in a million years without a video. LOL

he had a gun, the barrel was in the video. a few warning shots for sure.

if anyone was trying to argue that was baiting, or they didn't tag the deer immediately because a bear was eating your deer - well, ummmmm I would totally lose respect for the internet coppers on here!
