What's the point here? Are you trying to blame the guns in the USA for being so open . If so you do have look at the population of the states compared to Canada. We are not much better off here with our strict gun control laws. 4 dead in Markham over the weekend probably another 16 shot at throughout the city.
Just sayin.

Is it not possible for any one else to ask the same type of question ?? ? ??? joe did ?
You can't compare the States and Canada when it comes to gun related deaths. We're talking about murder, not suicide. Its hard to find comparing statistics for the same given period but the States has 10 times our population, they have on average11,000 gun related murders while we had 233. No comparison whatsoever.
Jaycee, Commie-fornia is a bad comparison to other states. The restrictions the state has placed on it's Citizens that own guns are unbelievable.
Simple having an eight inch bread knife ( for slicing my bagels in half ) inside my truck is enough for me to be arrested and sent to jail on offensive weapons charges.
Many cities here are passing by-laws to prohibit the sale of firearms and ammo by business with in the city or townships.
The first attempt at confiscation of firearms from people has already been table by the Government and barely defeated.
Ask about Detroit, were the Chief of Police is telling Citizens that can legally own to buy firearms. At least you would be asking about Citizens that are armed.
Too many of wrong types own firearms and that's what has their murder rate so off the charts. If there's no infrastructure to properly vet whos buying firearms then you sure won't see any difference in the murder statistics. As It is now it seems anyone can walk into a yard sale and buy a firearm--no background check takes place.
Besides this the festival was a gun free zone - to attend you had to pass through a security check point with x-ray - the shooter climbed over a fence to get in - so you see - the same old BS - the ordinary citizen can't have a firearm while this killer can - there are high school football games down here that check you before entering the stadium - I always feel this is terrible - some killer could start shooting and I can't do anything duck - when will people learn - society is reaping what it has sown
U.S. society anyway!
His reason for the shooting/killing; " Van Breen said he heard someone shout to Legan “Why are you doing this?” and Legan replied, “Because I’m really angry.”
An angry kid/whacko, angry at who? so why does he take it out on innocent people?
" society is reaping what it has sown ", " U.S. society anyway! "
Like criminals or a mentally ill person cares about gun laws and permits ...
There will always be a way to get a gun ... it's only the price that will change.
We should be asking ourselves what brings a person to shooting another innocent human being ... we should be fixing that problem.
It makes you wonder why they always pick on innocent, unaware people.
These whacko's , never call the police or the military and tell them to come out to a shootout do they.
Oh ya, they are big bad tough guys, sneak in and catch people of all ages that are out enjoying themselves never having the thought that a "chicken zhit " shooter/killer will arrive and let loose with a semi auto fire arm be it rifle or handgun.:mad:
the problem that i see.
everyone is allowed to carry and handgun around , okay..
so what point does it get to where people dont call the cops to solve disputes and start to settle it themselves with their own firearms.
police officers are literally employed to "protect and serve" the community, they come and solve disputes no matter what the issue is. in my opinion you let everyone walk around with a firearm your asking for problems. with all the bad police crap going around as well these days i feel like that screwed up ALOT of people views on this as well tho and i cant blame em.
The second amendment permitted the government to raise armies (consisting of full-time paid troops) only when needed to fight foreign adversaries. For other purposes, such as responding to sudden invasions or other emergencies, the government could rely on a militia that consisted of ordinary civilians who supplied their own weapons and received some part-time, unpaid military training.
my whole view on it was that amendment was put in there for a MAIN purpose. and what i just wrote up there is it. they should have gotten rid of that a long time ago honestly. it was a different time.
now is a time for different rules as well.
ive also noticed alot of debates leave out the very first portion of the amendment........... "A well regulated..."
just my 2 cents.
Bingo!! The common denominator is that we never see them hitting "hardened" targets,do we?
The SCOTUS disagrees and issued their ruling to back it up making 2A the absolute law of the land. The only way to alter that is to overturn 2A. That will start the second civil war,so,it'll never happen.
Heck no. This is still hotly debated in legal and partisan political circles. There's that thing called The Heller Decision (District of Columbia v. Heller 554 US 570),then,in 2010 ,the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruling. There's been several other lower court rulings that tried to prohibit everything from gun show loopholes to concealed carry, but, the bottom line is that every one of them crashed and burned. Repealing The Second Amendment requires a full majority vote in The House and The Senate, then, must be submitted to each State legislature for ratification which must be 80%. The chances of that happening is slim to 5/8 of SFA.
The American founding fathers couldn't possibly foresee how 2A could affect society 250 years down the road. They were more interested in the ability to raise a well trained, standing army on a moments notice (hence the name "Minute Men") should the British decide to over turn the revolution with further military incursions which eventually almost happened during The War of 1812. That event, alone, cemented into the American psyche that they could never let their guard down (especially after we burned down their original White House) that lasts to this day.
" California is a "may issue" state for permits to carry concealed guns. The willingness of issuing authorities in California ranges from No [Issue in most urban areas to Shall Issue in rural counties. Additionally, the issuing authority can also impose restrictions on the CCW permit-holder, such as limiting concealed carry only to the purposes listed on the approved CCW permit application. However, concealed carry permits are valid statewide, regardless of where they were issued. This creates a situation where residents in presumptively No Issue locations such as Los Angeles and San Francisco cannot lawfully carry a concealed firearm, but residents from other counties with more permissive CCW issuance policies can lawfully carry within these same jurisdictions. California does not recognize concealed carry permits issued by other states, and non-residents are generally forbidden from obtaining a California concealed carry permit. Those eligible to carry a rifle, shotgun, or handgun under the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act are not subject to some California laws. "
