If you ignore the actual costs, the increased costs on other goods etc. some gullibles might buy it ... otherwise it is the Liberal I will give you a $5 for you $20 crap to try and buy the election using your own money.
I always have time to listen to people who struggle to calculate the tip for a server giving advice on economics and taxes when it doesn't suit their agenda. At the end of the day it's good to laugh.
$718 Federal rebate? I do not remember that much.
I did the math, the rebate does not cover the increase cost of gas getting to work and we drive a Corolla. They extended the "city" boundary, I have a farm, live on a rural zoned property and drive 50km one way to work yet they say I do not live in a rural area so I cannot get the rural benefit for the rebate. In SW Ontario you can be 15km from the center of the town and you are considered rural.
What I really want to say about this carbon tax stuff would get me kicked off this forum.
The cost of sustaining life in Canada has sky rocketed with this BS, just look at the cost of bread. Anything that needs to be delivered has gone up and will go up higher as you cannot just replace every vehicle with one that runs off the smug attitude of whole foods shopping citiots.
You’d almost think the idea is to reward those that reduce the amount of carbon used. Almost.
No surprise that you can't follow that.
What is the date that the carbon tax will have solved the problem?
If this government was truly worried about carbon or pollution from oil products, they would not be expanding the Alberta oil production. All that oil that they sell will go to some other countries that pollution standards are less then ours or don't even exist....
with one side of his mouth he says we must use less, the other side of his mouth says we must sell more, which is it......
It does not reduce anything, it simply moves the cost to the end user.
Trudeau removed the tax incentive to use public transit, that incentive was larger for a 12 month user of public transit than his crappy rebate on his carbon tax.
You cannot use less carbon when you have no other option. Public transit rates have gone up due to the tax. Home heating rates have gone up due to the tax. Municipal taxes have gone up due to the tax (think garbage collection and road maintenance). There is no possible way for the average person to do anything to offset the cost that is downgraded to them by this tax, buying a Prius does not cut it, hell, moving to the city and walking everywhere does not cut it, you will still be paying the tax on every single thing in your life.
I just want to know how this carbon tax is going to reduce Canada's carbon emission in a meaningful way. I mean, that's what it's there for, right?
I guess Loblaws will be voting liberal ...
deleted duplicate post.
With all due respect, that wasn't a fraud. It was the worst business deal in provincial history, but, not a crime. PM Trudeau's carbon tax,in theory, was a stab in the dark. Business being business simply regarded the tax as just another governmental cost add-on. They simply passed it on to the consumer the same way they do with everything else. Net result...added cost of living with ZERO results to the intended purpose.
I wouldn't say it was the worst .... selling more of Hydro One is my worst.
I mean when you look at it, a company is running it and expanding it and making a good profit ... so far OK
40% is owned by CPP .... getting better...
SNC owns the remainder.... I think I like the first owner better... but an enterprise ran by the gov't will be driven to be a non profit ... and let's put it bluntly, that means taxpayers paying for it.... better people paying for it's use that actually use it... reminds me... did I pay that bill this month ...I digress... and it being properly managed instead of by the lowest common IQ's we see so often in gov't businesses with their bureaucracies

Besides, on non essentials a gov't owned and controlled company is more a National Socialist/Socialist/Communist idea... I don't see them working to well and the US vs THEM comes into play by politicians too easily .. I mean just look at this guy ...

but we know his favourite gov't too so it isn't surprising ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZHUhfmlzXk
The carbon tax however ... saying it will have an effect is delusional .... OR they plan on increasing it so large and taking so much of working people's money they can't afford to travel... travel restrictions, lies, ethics violations, insults ... yep ... looking forward to PM "I can't honestly answer a question asked" Silly Socks getting his walking papers handed to him! Well saying that and expecting people to believe it .... lies again just like this on on budgets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY3I2ewuxQ0 A $50,000,000,000+ lie on deficit spending.... but like Capone and Mao we see people support the Libs too...

Where is the benefit to the business or the consumer? A business that is closer will not have the same charges as a business further away? How often does any business get all of their materials within 100km of their business? Business is global, materials are global, no businesses are going to be able to not use trucks.
Did you know that you pay carbon tax on solar and wind energy? You pay carbon tax on electric cars, you also pay carbon tax on bicycles, there is no escaping it.
If you think otherwise you are living in the dark.
Sourcing products closer means less carbon used. Less carbon used = less tax paid. Not claiming it's easy or a kick in the pants for some that can't/won't use less carbon but that's the point. There is a cost.
Even if a lousy deal at least the province received 3+ Billion for it. Additionally nobody forces anyone to drive the 407 - it is solely the choice of the individual/company. The carbon tax on the other hand is essentially unavoidable. Every tank of fuel and every product or service you purchase in this country has seen some incremental cost increase due to this tax. Some products and services are more affected than others but don't kid yourself - every single thing in this country is produced using fossil fuel somewhere along the line and all cost increases are/will be passed on to the consumer. If it could be shown that the tax would actually make a difference with regard to protecting the environment/climate than as long as the cost is reasonable I am not against it in principle. Unfortunately from what i see they are just throwing crap at the wall and hoping some will stick under the guise of saving planet earth while they conveniently line the federal coffers with another half baked tax idea.
The tax is working. It’s getting colder outside. Yippee we are saved.
How much carbon from the construction equipment alone will be accumulated by expanding the oil pipeline in Alberta...... On top of that they plan on getting 890,000 barrels per day of oil.... That is going to be a lot more carbon (fossil fuels) getting into our planet earth. So not sure how a carbon tax on our fossil fuel consumption helps when the Federal Government is building that pipeline. Seems pretty hypocritical (self serving) if you ask me.
Well you can still have them..IF your willing to pay $10 a pound for grapes, iceberg lettuce going up to $5 or $6 a head. The cost of transporting it is going through the roof, and the cost of cold storage for local grown produce like potatoes, apples etc is going up as well. Read the packaging on stuff next time your shopping. Very little is grown in Ontario or even Canada.
Seriously? You mean my kiwis aren't from Wawa? I hate "defending" a government and I hate "defending" a tax but at least read what the economists and scientist (but not the ones paid by oil companies) have to say about carbon taxes.
Look at the prices in your store, look at what has happened to the cost of essentials in the last few years. It is getting too expensive to live.
Get this, I went to high efficiency propane for my home heating (sorry it is Canada, I have to heat my home). I am now charged an increased fee due to the increased cost of delivery plus the carbon tax and then on top of it they put the HST on top of the delivery fee and the carbon tax, that is tax on tax on tax.
I really do not give a S**T what the economists and politicians say about it, they don't have to live a middle class life in Ontario. Oh, the scientists, they have no clue what real money is and how it is effected, no idea.
There's something else that's buggin' me about the stickers, too,(not that I'm agreeing with carbon taxes). Where does any government get off telling privately owned companies where and how they MUST apply political stickers to their gas pumps? Isn't that pretty much the same as a government telling a home owner what political signs or placards to apply to their property? Most people I know would tell them to FRO and boot 'em off the property.
Scrapping the carbon tax .... I mean "breathing and working tax" ( abetter name) and putting BACK the transit tax credit the Liberal's killed.... definitely in the correct direction ... as compared to the lie and tax strategy of the Libs...

I see PM silly socks didn't even want to answer questions at the first national debate and skipped it... that lying dictator/tyrant loving ethics violating coverup specialist elitist has to go!
No point in another post...
See earlier post, hey sold 43% to a Spanish infrastructure company... 40% went to CPP and is putting money in the pension system... SNC has the rest.

P.S. again
PMO shows it's usual contempt for freedom of the press and openness.... Rebel banned from ALL events.... taking lessons from the communists and National Socialists ... the Liberal part of Canada!
I think we leased it we get it back in 99yrs
Simple ... the cost... Probably over $30B+ based on https://business.financialpost.com/i...or-snc-lavalin and throw in probably some cancellation fees.
The risk free gravy train from the taxes, the money going to CPP .... only a NDP gov't would be that idiotic ... maybe the Libs if they thought they could win an election on that issue (using taxpayers money to buy votes....)... and both would probably end up with it requiring taxpayer funding to stay afloat.
