I'm just wondering if there aren't a lot of people hunting ducks and geese. I don't see many posts. Does anybody go to long Point anymore?

i was out this morning. ducks are flying. my aim... not so great.
with the melt the river is a good place to go, as long as the waters calm and not more than knee deep, its a good time in my books!
Good to hear hunters are getting out. There used to be a lot more post, I was thinking that maybe not that many are going out. I've only been out a couple of times. I used to really enjoy the field and pond hunts.
I’m not a goose hunter but couldn’t help but noticing how many Geese are still around. I mean tons of them.
I will be field goose hunting in Erin tomorrow. I can’t wait
Broke ice to launch in lake st clair on Monday and shot a 3 man limit with zero wind, mallards, shoveler, gadwall, Redhead and bluebills. Funnest hunt of the year
Does anyone hunt Long Point?
I've been to Long Point a couple of times this year. Had some good shoots on puddlers. Hope to get out for divers soon.
Lots of geese around in some areas, but in others they are non existent.
Around our place , we may see a flock [small] or two one day , then they disappear for a week or two, there is stiil too much standing corn around here, moisture content is too high and the farmers are not combining it as yet.
Heading to long point in November 30.
There were 13 reservations requested that day, so I'm expecting at least double that number there that day .
Hunted Long Point on Monday. Lots of ice due to Friday cold snap. Could not get in to grass to hide boats so stuck out 6’ from edge. What few birds were around usually flared away. Seemed only mergansers and coots left and with ice concerns agreed with guides to cancel Tuesday hunt. Looks like Friday cold snap pushed most ducks south.
Its finally starting to get good!

I'd love to go out tomorrow and I'll look around to night for something, But everything froze over the last 2+ weeks most birds have moved on. Must have seen 500 in a field near waterloo yesturday though.

We had a migrating flock pass over one of our fields last week. Ive never seen so many birds at one time. Too bad we only got 2.
They didnt like our treeline decoys but we had no other choice!

Our local lake ice around the blinds is getting too thick to break with a paddle. Darlington PP was closed last week. Some of the field hunters are still active, but,it would be damn cold laying in the snow. This years WF season may come to an early end. After the M/L one week season,it'll be time to get the rifles and coyote calls dusted off.
Saturday November 23rd ; The Unit had 20 cars in the Line Up plus Reservations plus guys on the Re-Rent List . Ice is all gone now but a lot of ducks went with it but there should still be some action. I had the honour of hunting the Turkey Point Club last Monday and my guide said there was thousands of ducks before the freeze up but we only saw hundreds that day.
Remember... it's not over until the fat lady sings .
Too cold for me...........
Bunch of geese around here now as its warmed back up and water opened up.
300+ on two cut corn fields but I cant get permission!! Land owners aren't local and big cash crop farmers rent it.

This is my favourite time of year, especially hunting public land / water. This is when the time behind the wheel really pays off, things change daily. Makes Success that much sweeter.
Ducks are finally showing up here in good numbers. Had a good run just over a week ago after the thaw. Pulled the boy out of school and we got 9 green heads, 1 hen (oops) and 2 blacks in a flooded corn silage field. Slowed down a touch since but it will return.
Hit long point the weekend before for an afternoon hunt. Got there at noon, 14 in the re-rent ahead of us and only 2 empty blinds. We hit one of the empty ones and got our limit and a goose. Only expected to get a couple but lots flying that night.
Our best hunts are between now and the new year for mallards and geese.
Went out sat morning on simcoe. Busted out some ice and got our 18 mallards in 20 min. Best hunt this year.
Has a nice shoot Saturday evening - 10 Canada's and a bonus Greater Snow which is rare this far west - shot quite a few Lesser Snows over the years.

Got out again Sunday morning ahead of the snow storm solo. Five more Canada's and a nice mallard drake

Lots of snow now. The second pic was from Sunday morning - it just started to snow as I was driving out of the field
The big flocks have left here now with all the snow. I seen 1000 likely last week, nothing this week. Sounds like rain and warm again next week, HOPEFULLY one or two more hunts. Pretty tempted to put it all away and get out the coyote hounds.
