I agree. There is so much inaccurate information being posted.
Yes finally an official press release from a government department instead of multiple releases from special interest groups.
The same gov't body that just before the registry disappeared, or atleast it was supposed to... there was that little deal with some .22 rifles suddenly....
By the way what has been inaccurate, there are mixed messages about where and how the bore size is measured, lawyers that specialize in firearms say since it isn't a permanent part of the barrel the choke tube isn't a part and that's where they measured, making the muzzle .814 for a Winchoke barrel. Hence illegal and as this goes on the original screwed up legislation keeps getting more firearms added.
Like this post from the "Sales and Marketing Director at Cadex Defence", their company that just had two more of it's rifles added to the list.
" May 1st was our CDX-50 Tremor 50BMG
48 hours ago was our CDX-40 Shadow 408CT
and today was our CDX-40 Shadow 375CT"
A bolt action precision rifle in 375 CT

With ammo at $100 for 10.

and the RCMP seems in contrast to...the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) Memorandum D19-13-2, issued May 29, 2019, defines BORE as:
"the inside of the barrel of a firearm, from the throat to the muzzle, through which the projectile travels. "
So the CBSA’s definition, it may be all 12-gauge and 10-gauge shotguns – not just those with removable chokes – are now Prohibited firearms because they do not consider the forcing cone, the “throat” of the barrel, which exceeds the 20 mm maximum bore diameter specified in SOR/2020-96.
Do you believe Bill and the RCMP.... that is the question, or do you keep their feet to the fire and make sure that there is a real legal definition like midpoint or x inches from the muzzle etc.? If they can keep adding firearms then they should be able to add a definition easy enough.
As for me, I like to see the evidence, the definition and it in writing.
Yep, at this point those that will listen have and the rest closed their eyes and trusted Bill .... why is it I keep thinking of the Milgram experiment on so many occasions in discussions on here... but that is the real issue and that's why I posted an update on the petition. But think about it, if they are adding new firearms to the list (atleast the 2 from Cadex), why not a definition of the bore measurement and Epps just showed that single shot Iverson 12 guage exceeded it before the choke in a fixed choke firearm.

Besides, it is snowing and poking a hornets nest is easier now before the monsters man killers arrive. :-)
OK, the site is up and running again. Strange for some reason it was down last night when I checked, they must have been updating the page.
I think that makes it clear ... if this ever goes in front of a judge, any lawyer would be able to get the case dropped.
But I hope that ALL police are updated and don't bring charges on anyone without being properly informed, as this type of thing makes a mess of people's lives.
Can't see the police going around with gauges to check 10/12 gauges.
The RCMP statement is good enough for me.
It also is good enough for Wes Winkel, owner of Elwood Epps and President of the Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association. It was the Association and who got the "legal opinion" in the first place and stated the panic. Epps is again selling 12 gauge shotguns with choke tubes as are other CSAAA members and large Canadian online dealers.
When the people who hired the lawyer ignore his advice that's a very good indication of what they think about it.
Bill has been lying again.... and as stated, only RCMP knows the full list....
"over 80 22 rifles and 60 shotguns and single shots too" ... SO pump, break action 22s and single shots seem to be on the list now. Libs calling them assault rifles ... also the way he phrases his answer it seems Bill doesn't consider firearm owners as Canadian citizens too.....

Someone has gotten to Blair. He's been told to stick to the rhetorical talking points and not to deviate from them one iota to stop any chance the opposition can use his BS against the Liberal Party. The Liberals know it's BS,we know it's BS and the media knows it's BS,yet, they keep feeding it to the sheeple in great big doses and they keep sucking it up like a sponge. There's just no hope for those folks.
I don't think he's deliberately lying. I think he genuinely doesn't have a clue. He's a cop,not a lawyer and it really shows when he tries to quote law and write regulations. He should have stayed retired and just faded away.........like the rest of us. It reminds me of the old adage "It's better to be a big fish in a little pond than a little fish in a big lake".
