LOL...I figured I would be up to my eyes in coyote sightings, night howlings or least be able to hear them...Been in the house for a week and not a peep heard or seen. Tons of deer and Turkeys though :-/.
I seen and heard more coyotes in Barrhaven everyday.. Things are strange.
Ha ha ha, you should have been at my place last night. 2:15am they started up like crazy, we had the windows open. I grabbed the huge Mag light and lit up the back of the property, 1 coyote was on the hill about 125 yards from the house and 40 yards from the lamb shelter, his eyes were glowing with the light and he would not leave. I could not get the screen out of my window or I would have taken a crack at him from my bedroom. Yes, I know you cannot hunt in the dark, but you can sure as heck protect your property after dark.
HAHAHA. I got the CTC spot lights on sale...waiting.

Their usually quiet summer time wait till winter. Let out 100 pound dog at 10:00 o’clock pm to do his thing and watch him beg to get back in the house. He knows he’s out numbered. And is willing to hold it till morning.
Had a buddy with an intact male, the local wolves sent out their female in heat to lure him away from the house. My buddy was shooting over the top of his own dogs head to scare him back to the house. My neighbour had his dog attacked by a number of coyotes, he got away and did not become lunch but not without being cut up a bit. The interesting part with my neighbour, his dog had blood all over him but no deep cut, so he messed up at least one of the coyotes.Quote:

I seen a group of 8 run a deer out on the ice in winter till deer had to go into open water. Coyotes waited till the drowned deer floated back to ice and then pulled it up team work. That was long cold wait
I know a sheep farmer that says his Great Pyenese is completely wore out come morning. He couldn't figure out why, Til he seen the tooth marks on its muzzle. He figures that dog is fighting/fending off coyotes almost every night. I know the dog well, He's about 120lbs and 7 years old, he's fear less, I'd like to have a gopro on his head to see how he makes out at night.
I'm going there Saturday morning with the rifle to see if i can help him out.

OK..as a hunter of coyotes, I understand them well..as a rural property (RU)..it appears I am learning..lol Dont have animals yet, but dogs, and very wary when letting them out AM/PM (goats and chickens), but next spring I will.
If you have breathable air you have coyotes.

They have enough sense to stay together and work as a team. Only ever had minor scratches/bites and never needed any medical attention. coyotes tend to be quiet until october and then really make a sound until february and march. i had a pack right behind the barn a while ago and every once in a while they pass thru. people are crazy to think they will manage to control the population in southern ontario. but you can deter a local pack
I take all that back, the last 4 nights have been nothing but coyotes howling. I think it is like Fox told me, that MikePal tracks them on a 2 week cycle of hunt routes. It was so bad, they woke the wife and I out of sleep..with me smiling...lol

I remember one night on Lakeshore in Mississauga, about 3 am I see this deer stroll out in front of my truck slowly with no concern and slowly cross the road and stop in the park to my right about 20 yards away. I thought it would be fun to see what it would do if I got out of the truck and walk in the park. It payed no attention to me and and kept looking at me and the street then I see a yote cross the road sneakily and zig zag around the park trying to flank the deer. It was a lot of fun but the deer knew I wasn't the one to worry about LOL. it walked away and I don't know who won the hide and seek game but it was a fun experience. Neither one of the wild life was worried about me.
Couple years ago I went deer hunting for the week and got skunked, Didn't see a deer all week. Go back to work the next week in Pickering just off the 401 and I seen 4 bucks that week on the job site chasing does.Made me pretty mad lol
Seen a massive 10 pointer standing in Pearson Airport before too.
