Stepping stones, they always get something out of it and so will you. The more different positions on your resume the better for you. Ask them if there’s online training you could take. Free education/training is always good.
Good luck.

there is never a downside to training and increasing your value to the company and your resume for future companies.
Sounds like you have a good work ethic and that indeed is a rare thing these days. Good on you and good on them for noticing.
Good luck and don't turn down and opportunity for advancement unless there is a real negative reason to do so.

appreciate the words from both of ya.
seems like they are training me for a manager position. today he basically gave me a list of skids to take down from the overhead from around the store and explained the process of where he gets the list from and what the merchandise i brought down was for. he usually does these things alone but he ended up just talking to me or checking on other associates all day.
cant help but think one of the managers are getting ready to quit possibly.

Having working in retail during a slow period in my other profession, and had a similar “opportunity”, I take the perspective that I’m still in the business of “me”. Is there a benefit for me and my future? You many not be there for ever, are the skills you’d acquire beneficial for you, the company or both? If benefits you, great! Both you and the company, great! Just the company? Not so great. Your skills are transferable. Sounds like they are lucky to have you. All the best with the situation.

I appreciate the replies responses and good wishes from all of you.
Today I asked what was going on and he showed me how to walk the floor and prioritize today. He asked me if I would be interested in night manager or day and I told him night manager. So he said he is going to work with me and show me things slowly everyday. I then asked about the receiving position I was offered and he doesn't know if thats off the table for me or not but assured me if I dont get that position he will do everything in his power to get me ready to go for a manager position. So I guess I got my answer haha.
Any training I can get is a plus for me. My resume isn't the greatest, but with the experience in going to gain and have already gained ( forklift and reach truck) this has already benefited me greatly.
Again I really appreciate the responses and good wishes from you all.

One thing I learned is that if bosses can count on you most of the time, then they want you around full time. It makes their job easier. I volunteered, no questions asked, for every job that came around, even those in different services. I worked fish and wildlife full time, then volunteered for spraying programmes, fire fighting all over the province and whatever other dirty jobs came along that others refused to do. It paid off in the long run big time.
