I can walk, I have a cottage I worked very hard for with overtime done. I only have one TV as its all I can watch at one time.
My wife did not work after 8 years to raise the kids which freed me up to work longer and harder.
I run a credit card and can tell you after 35 years the poor bank has never made a dime in interest from me, period.
Because I am pretty frugal, I was able in the past year to help one daughter buy a home in Edmonton and my son a condo in Mississauga.
So if I can pull this off, how come people think nobody else has managed the same.
I sincerely apologise Gilly. I should have put a disclaimer at the bottom of my post that clarified my comments were NOT ABOUT GILROY, because as most of us on here know, you are the exception to the rule. I hope you can forgive my errant behaviour?

I think you would be very surprised how many folks are the exception to the rule, I know of several on this very forum who do not go out of their way to waste money and are pretty happy with their lot in life. But you and hunter are right the majority are living beyond their means
on very expensive borrowed money.
