I guess i'll take the early lead. (i'll add a pic with my shotgun later but for now i don't have one)

First bird ever, 6:20am. Shotgun. Not going to lie, i kind of got lucky. I was poorly prepared this year but i took a shot and set up near a roost from years past. at about 5:45 he gobbled 50 yds to my left. gobbled almost non stop for the next 20 minutes till he flew down. he had 3 hens with him but didn't take too kindly to the jake decoy i had out with my feeding hen. His already had some noticable missing feathers from previous fights so i knew he'd come in. Shot him at 8 yds, 30 minutes into the season.

Edit - Score 107.5 (as i can't read a tape measure properly apparently)

    spur 1.375" x 40 = 55
    Beard 10.5* 5 = 52.5
    no bonus
    total 107.5

After passing on a couple persistent jakes this morning, I bagged a nice tom with my 16ga Sauer drilling. First turkey with this gun!

    20lbs 9oz, 15/16" spurs, 9" beard, no abnormalities

Great Tom Dilly, and nice use of the drilling. Nothing like a bird on the opener!

So after the first day, we have two hunters on the Leaderboard:

    1. parkcity - 107.5
    2. Dilly - 82.5

    Opening Day Bird!
Had Toms out in the field for the morning, but a boat load of hens kept them occupied and none would come to the decoys. So I headed back to the same spot at 5pm and called this nice Tom in and put the smack down on him at 6:20pm with my 12 ga. Remington 870 with a gobbler stopper choke
My digital scale messed up on me, so i had to use an old one, so it’s a little hard to read, before my digital broke it was reading 24lbs, but ths one shows 23lbs so go with that.

    1-3/8" spurs
    9.5" beard
    23lbs

After watching a pair of toms strutting in a field after 7pm two nights in a row I was able to determine where they were roosted. My brother and I hunted them Sunday morning but they never showed. We went back Monday morning and I got real close to the roost and I had one down 5 minutes into legal shooting time. A very quick hunt and was only 15 minutes late for work.

    Shot with a shotgun
    11.625" beard
    1" spurs
    Total Score = 98.125
