Closed Thread
Late this afternoon a thread which started out in the Hunting Dog Section about a dog vest was closed. I understand the rules that we all should observe with the forum but I did not see any warnings nor derogatory comments. The focus became buying Canadian when shopping
There were no comments from a Moderator.
While we may not be aware of all details, perhaps the Mods might interject at a certain point rather than just closing the thread.
Censorship appeared pretty tight.
Just saying.......

It is truly a shame that a topic such as supporting local businesses would get the axe. We need to stop hiding behind political correctness and stand together - especially on a site that bears our province's name in its title. An explanation is the least the mods could do.

You may have inadvertently gotten caught up in the advertising Rule#8. I have read the thread,so,that's just a guess. You can always contact a moderator for clarification.

I went out and searched for winter boots made in Canada.
I found them, but it was tough.
Seems like everything is made in other countries. Even Bogs are made in China....they have a BIG emblem inside the boots, "Created in Britain"...no other tags.
I said, "Bring me the box"...yup....there's the tiny writing, "Made in China."
Pffft
My attitude towards you depends upon how you have treated me.

Agree with the OP here. It's odd when threads are deleted altogether with no indication of why it was done. Example, a thread a couple weeks ago about the QDMA. No warnings, no reasons provided. Just disappeared.

There is a post in the thread edited by a mod saying 'advertising' so that is my guess.
My understanding on the QDMA thread was that noseyarentcha deleted it as the OP.

To answer your questions, I responded to Yellow Dog's comment #9, when it was originally posted which told the OP to go directly to Mendota in the US ... nothing more than that. He lives close to the border and is a proponent of cross order shopping. Not everyone has that luxury or would want to do that. It was only after I posted an example for the OP that you do NOT need to cross border shop to find the same product at a competitive price that Yellow Dog came back to add his additional comments on comment #9 about shopping in Canada. And then the thread was locked .... and no you know the rest of the story! ;-)

If advertising is the issue perhaps a reminder would be in place at the time. I can understand that however; post #9 in that thread remains and it has numerous references to where to buy products.
Shouldn't the same broom be used here??

You are correct Benjihind. I deleted all of my threads and posts, not just QDMA. Some PM with a few members convinced me that there was no reason to disappear
...now I wish I hadn't deleted it cuz there was some really good information in that thread.
Start a new one Benjihind, we can learn from it.

This happens frequently and has been going on for a few years now. It's actually one of the reasons I stopped being active on this forum. I get tired of big business being okay to mention, but heaven forbid you mention a small local business as a reputable source for equipment.
