Same here! But I remember the show with Mort Neff and Howard Shelley!
I remember the shows Fred did, taking on the scent industry. The lawsuit pretty much did the show in, until Fred regrouped and started The Practical Sportsman...those were the days when the outdoor shows actually taught you something!

I once posted 6 videos of Fred Trost's Michigan Outdoors, and other old hunting shows, on YouTube. This was about the time of Fred's interest in the scent industry. Anyway, I was warned about copyright so had to remove them. Still watch them from time to time.

I liked Fred because he never pretended to be an expert. As he learned about things so did the rest of us. His investigation into deer scents was very enlightening and I credit that to helping me become a better deer hunter.

Wasn't Fred a lawyer by trade? I know his attack on the scents industry is what really done him in financially.

I too enjoyed Michigan Outdoors but I have really fond memories of the Red Fisher Show. I used to watch him as a kid on CHCH 11 Hamilton. I even have his poem book somewhere around here.

I tried to find some Red Fishers shows on YouTube but couldn't find any. Has anyone found any?

Fred went to law school after the lawsuit. He claimed that one of the reasons why he lost the suit was due to poor legal representation.

I used to eagerly await Saturdays just to watch Red. One episode he said "make sure to tune in next week, we're going on a bear hunt"
I never slept all week. Saturday came and they were on a bear hunt. Back then no one showed bear hunts. Well we seen the bait, we seen the stand set up, we seen bear crap, we seen commercials, we listened to the poem. "well folks that's it, no bear even seen! WTF that's the way hunting goes sometimes. I was deflated and disappointed.
I met Red years later on a Pelee Island pheasant hunt (in front of the hotel) He came and filmed his closing show in front of our pickup full of pheasants, 10 guys 100 birds! Of course none of us 10 got in the camera frame. Only Red and our ficken birds! Anyway I gave him shyt for pulling the wool over my eyes on that bear episode! Anyway he wrapped up filming and headed - you know where!
If you keep doing what you've always done. You'll keep getting what you've always got!
Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
