Has too much time on their hands
As a person who is currently trapped in this phenomena, I found this to be quite entertaining.

Thanks for the smile MikePal.
The voice isn't me. Ever since our Elf was caught in a compromising position with one of the Barbie's in our house, I am no longer allowed to move him.

I'm looking forward to the the end of Elf on the Shelf season. The kids love it but I already have enough to remember at this time of year. I've had more than one moment of panic this month when the realization dawned on me that I had forgotten to move the Elf.

I still only have a vague idea what in heck this is all about...there are no wee ones in my life to keep me up on these things.
I had no idea it was a kid thing, I keep seeing the adult side of it on the web so I had to look it up...LOL...

It stays in your home for the month of December to "watch" the kids and report back to Santa. It's magical of course and has to get up to some sort of shenanigans every night. If he hasn't, (tired parents forgot to move him) the kids are disappointed.
It's become one of these things where more kids have an Elf in their house these days than kids that don't.
