I have a DEET spray that I picked up from LeBaron, but I was thinking about taking a drive out to TSC to buy some spray with Permethrin. My only concern is the citronella scent because I use the same clothes for deer hunting in the fall. If I spray my clothes and then wash them after turkey season closes, will I need to worry about any lingering scents for deer season?

Just stay down wind when you deer hunt. You can wear the wife's perfume & kill a deer if you stay down wind...

LOL. Best advice ever! I'll just give it a go and see how it works out. I'll give it the sniff test after washing.

In case anyone is interested, if you cant make it to rhe US for Sawyers or other Permethrin products, this is Gordon's Permethrin 10. Dilute it and make your own spray.

PBI GORDON CORP Permethrin-10 Horse, Livestock & Premise Spray, 1-Gal. Concentrate https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00EE17S9C/..._X426ybMKD872W

Good advice...you can buy it like that a most Livestock feed stores in Ont. Lots of farmers buy it like that for the sprayer and the do the outside of the barn and building foundations. Keeps all the crawling insects out. Take some out and spray the area around your Turkey Blind.

If you are near a US border, then this service might interest you. It is supposed to last up to 70 washes.

I just called Insect Shield to check - they can receive and ship back the Insect Shield treated clothes from Canadian addresses. They don't have PHAC approval to ship Insect Shield garments from their web store, but they do have approval to send back your now-protected clothes.

So, you don't have to use a US border store to take advantage of that service after all.

I spray my tall-boots and dog kennel with permethrin during the active months. For daily outings, I'm going to grab some Icaridin based sprays, since they are safer for my kids than DEET at the effective concentrations.

That University of Rhode Island site also has some videos for those treating their own clothes with permethrin at home, including a video showing how well permethrin repels & kills ticks.

Found my first tick on the 14th. Female American Dog Tick.

It was sure moving fast in the 9C evening.

The permethrin is on the dogs, boots, and the kennel now!
