I'm getting so tick paranoid I'm getting itches all the time in anticipation.
Laying in bed last night I sense/feel something on the back of my hand. Yup a tick.
    Try falling asleep after that.
Went out for dinner with 3 other couples last night. The biggest laugh was when we found out that one of our turkey hunting friends found a tick right on his "willy". For the rest of the night all 4 guys had the itch! Another guy went turkey hunting and picked off 26 - holy smoly! 26 from one sit!

If you keep doing what you've always done. You'll keep getting what you've always got!
Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

They're all over Kemptville and the NCR. Since November, I've removed 7 from my dog (some latched, some not, some dead) 1 from my girlfriend (latched) and 1 from me (unlatched). And none of those were due to hunting activities or treks in the bush. Sure, our property is wooded, but we do all we can to prevent them from finding us. Alas, they manage.

Other than raising livestock (chuckens or guinea fowl), permethrin is the only product I know that works. There are plants and other things you can use. They help too. But ticks are a real problem now. They're spreading far and wide, and getting more tolerant of cold weather.

I don't think searching the GF for ticks after a walk in the woods is something to complain about

    ..unless your wife objects ..LOL..

This would be easy to "Make your own" with permethrin spray, some tubes and cotton (shredded balls)

Ticks are BIG trouble—specifically the black-legged tick, commonly known as the “deer tick.” These are the disgusting ticks that carry Lyme Disease, which affects more than 300,000 Americans every year. Lyme Disease can cause everything from fevers and joint pain to full out debilitation. Believe it or not, most folks catch Lyme Disease while working or playing in their own backyards, with 5- to 9-year-old boys at the highest risk.

That seems like a smart idea, bait to treat a tick carrier.

Gives the mice a break too. With all the owls out this year, I feel for them

Those four-post deer feeding stations, with the tick treatment sponges, didn't seem to catch on; funding was cut IIRC. If only they built nests like mice.

I order 6 Keets (Guinea Fowl) being delivered in June, they can take care of any ticks.

Maybe I get a girl friend examine for Ticks? Not sure if the wife would believe that. "Honest I was just checking her for ticks"

I have not tried using Guinea Fowl yet, though the internet says they are good at tick control. Not sure if it varies by tick type and whether it is the nymph or adult stage.

Either way, I hear Guinea Fowl are delicious. A friend from Ghana says they eat them at family barbecues, split and seasoned with their chili powder.

and Northwestern. We've had deer ticks (black-legged ticks) here now for a few years, with numbers going up each year. I guess they will keep the wood ticks (American Dog ticks) company.

Neat! I wish our municipality would let us. The same for chickens. Heck, they won't even let us keep bees. Stupid zoning regulations. Ugh!
