As you are aware, enforcement also includes a component of educating those the Officers contact.
IMHO, that's what should have happened here. Instead, you have two individuals with a very sour taste in their mouths where CO,s are concerned. Totally unnecessary !!
Yes, but the OP is posting something he "heard"....

Who's to say the Yanks involved weren't being less than friendly....

We don't know that, and shouldn't draw any different conclusions.

    LOL. Ok Rick.

Point out that the CO might have been petty in laying the charge, sure, fair enough. But it was his job, and at his discretion to do so. So with respect to the OP, no, you can't "party fish" period, full stop, since it is in fact illegal.

But this entire thread is based on the OPs " I heard a story where....", which we all know is not bona-fide facts, nor may have even happened.....so while we're spitballing, either go in for a penny, or in for a pound....

Fair enough....but I've seen too many things over the years that makes me think this story is somewhat credible.... I used to hear stuff like this and say, "no way, that can't happen"......not any more,
not specifically concerning CO's, but LEO's in general !!

If you buy a conservation licence, then the limit is 2. Whether resident or not.

If you're a non-res, and cheap..the extra $20 on an 8 day license is a bit of beer....

Zone 5. NW Ontario, nonresident 2 fish limit certain times, on certain waters. Conservation licence is 1. Hardly worth the effort..
