There isn't much smoke with 209

same gun with BH209...lots of smoke in comparison.

Lol those are triple 7 pellets not BlackHorn 209 Mike.

209 is as close to smokeless as one could get. It still stinks though....

The guy is shooting a light load in video as well. Two pellets where the claim to fame is 4 for the ultimate I think. You double charge even with T7 she will likely blow. Bh209 even more so.

Jack..I embedded the wrong video, I meant to show this one because it has a full load of BH209...must have cut and pasted too fast. The point still being, that if it had been a double load of any black powder there would have been a lot of smoke.

BH209, in every video I watched shows lots of smoke. Check out the cloud at the 1.39 sec mark.

I must say thought in re-watching the original video, especially in slow -mo (16 sec mark in) , there is more smoke that there would have been if he was using smokeless. So conjecture would have to run with an obstructed barrel, banana peel type damage.

Shooting the supplied Remington Premier Accutip 250 grain muzzleloader bullet with the green sabot, sitting on top of 160 grains by volume (112 grains by weight) of Blackhorn 209. Was told by the people at western powders that this is the maximum load for this gun. Shooting sub MOA (7/8") group at 100 yards. Way to go Remington and Western Powders. Also want to give a shout out to Steven Layne over at Laynes Gun & Pawn on Rt. 2 just outside of Huntington, WV for the good deal !!!

And in case you'r going to argue there is more smoke because it's a full load...here's a video with only 110 gr BH209..still lots of smoke, even on a windy day.

I use smokeless powder in my M/L.

But its a savage 10ML...

I bought a muzzleloader this year. I have always been a little bit leary of them but with preloaded charges and due diligence I now feel they are fairly safe. I'm looking forward to sighting it in soon!

ML s are perfectly safe. Use a witness mark on ramrod and do not let people interrupt you.

If in doubt tear it apart!

Double charge it and it will blow up and you will have a very bad day.

Take a close look at the rifle in the slo-mo. Are we sure it's a M/L? It looks like a bolt rifle with a muzzle brake. Over charge in a reload? Plugged barrel?

Definitely a muzzleloader with a brake. Can be one of many things that caused it to let go. As stated your ramrod is your best friend USE YOUR WITNESS MARKS on the rod and don't forget to remove the rod, it's your best insurance. Distraction is the next biggest problem with these they demand your full attention.

That was my thought as well Trimmer. Looks like a rem 700 rifle, not ML
