Cleaning and maintenace

I don't do any of the above with my M/L & it shoots & looks brand new.

Oh ya I use a Savage 10ML ii smokeless gun...

I think the rest of the hunting community needs to discover the wonderful world of smokeless powder guns...

I do find the savage to be a bit boring though. I take one shot before the season. Its usually a bulls-eye @ 100yards. Then I put it in the case & watch my buddies shoot & swab & repeat while I drink a beer... lol

Have you shot BP? I never had until last weekend, the smell is just amazing, I shot a cartridge gun in BP and it was grandpas so that may be part of it but just the puff and the sound as opposed to smokeless, just a cool factor.

LOL..I don't think that came out quit right...the rest of the hunting community already has smokeless powder, it's the vast majority of the traditional Black Powder community that is sticking with Smoke...they told Savage 8 yrs ago, that they weren't interested in the ML10 II..few bought them, so they stopped making it.

A bull at a 100yds....crap my 15 yr old Traditions Pursuit does that, Smoke and all and it cost me less than a 1/4 of the cost of the 10ML. And they still make them.

I am sorry to hear your Savage is so boring to shot..maybe you should try a real Smoke Pole and enjoy spending the afternoon on the range having a great time with a nice side lock Black Powder patch and ball gun. Then relax with a nice drink cold drink on ice, cleaning a gun you have more pride in...LOL..

Think of all the money you could have saved for those 100 yd shots if you had just bought BH209 for your Omega (a very good /accurate in-line I may add) ...no more crud ring, clean as a whistle once you done shooting.

Oh well, at least you belong to a select group of guys who own an ML 10, sort of like the car collectors with their Edsel's.....LOL...

The powder I shoot with is the BH209 so I treat my T/C ML the same as all my other rifles and shotguns. Remove the breach plug and let it soak in Hoppes #9 while I swab the barrel with a brush and patch saturated with the solvent. I finish off with a patch lightly coated with G96 for a mirror finish inside the barrel.

Most of my time is spent on the breach plug as it is critical that it be sparkling clean for proper channeling of the flame to ignite the powder. I use CCI 209M primers and they are incredibly dirty. Just a few shots leave a hard deposit so tools are required to remove the accumulation such as a 1/8" drill bit slowly turned by hand and a sewing needle to pick off the stubborn residue.

Other than that, a wipe of the exterior with a cloth and G96 plus cleaning the optics with lens fluid and it is good as new.
