Thread: sober hunting camp?

One guy in my group is an ex-alcoholic. Like you he's been sober for years and doesn't mind being around others who are drinking. The guys will get into the booze pretty good when a decent buck goes down and he just sits and laughs. Then he laughs again in the morning!

I don't know any zero-alcohol camps but it shouldn't be hard to find some guys who enjoy the hunting more than the drinking.

No such thing as an "ex-alcoholic". I know, I haven't had a drink in well over 10 years and hopefully will always be a "recovering alcoholic". To the OP, I hope you find your camp. Best of luck with that and your recovery. Keep doing what you are doing and you will keep getting what you are getting..................................Daniel

Very true. I'll just go right out and ask: anyone looking for a new hunter to mentor? I'm an ofah member and fully geared up for any small/big game and waterfowl hunting. Also have a compound that I have just bought and will be tuning it up and sighting it in soon. Pm me if you wish.....

You and boogaloo should get together. 5 generations of alcoholics here so I also don't go anywhere where there is alcohol either. Very brave of you to put it all out there.

I like my pops after a hard day but wouldnt mind ditching them if others around didnt partake...its only the true alcoholics that cant give it up even if just out of respect for others...
good on you for being sober and keeping away even when you come across it. My dad was sober for a long time and I grew up seeing him turn down beers regularly. My family members just didnt drink around him at family functions out of respect. Now fast foward 30 years and he will drink occasionally but hes gotten alot wiser over the years too and learned his limit.

I like a couple of drinks after putting in a hard day, but nobody I hunt with gets drunk. It's definitely possible to find hunting partners who don't let booze get in the way of effective hunting. Like being able to get up early the next morning.
Best of luck, I'm sure you'll find a group that works for you.
