There are extremely basic and inexpensive email software options that they can use to do this type of email campaign. The amount of $$$ they waste in mailings in one year would cover the cost. It's about efficiency and limiting waste.
I've had the same options checked and have never received anything by email from them either. As well as sending surveys, they could easily send outdoors card renewal reminders via email too.

I heard a rumor that Brian Muldome would chip in some money from his gun running friend,s from Germany and Syria.Heck if they can get Canadian citizenship and honorary University Degrees bestowed on them, they can take some cash from their Panama offshore accounts and help us out.

You've been given a choice online (free) of buy a stamp. Ball's in your court, you have options, which ever one you choose is your choice. Why the MNR would not send the questionnaire with the licence / controlled lottery seal instead of 2 separate mailings is beyond me. I think eventually the reporting will go 100 % online, but for now there are still a high number of hunters who do not know how to use computers. So for now we have an option.

Just filled out my deer hunting questionnaire online it seemed pretty quick and easy to me. But yes there is a lot of government wastage out there at all levels and some folks suffer because of it.

Completed mt mandatory moose questionnaire online the Sunday after the hunt was over.

December 28th a Purolator driver rings my door bell and says he has a signature required package. I signed for it and opened it up to find a letter addressed to me from the Bancroft MNRF acting district manager advising that it is an offense to not complete and return the survey, and that I wouldn't be eligible for the 2018 draw. Also enclosed was a blank questionnaire for me to fill out and return. The letter also said that I could complete the survey online.

So I looked up her email address and sent her an email advising that I already completed the survey online and attached a screen shot of their big game survey page showing the only survey available to me is the deer survey. Obviously I had already completed the survey online as well as the bear survey.

I asked her to confirm that that they received the online surveys and contact me.

This week I got an email from the biologist in Bancroft advising that they don't get the online surveys and that I wouldn't need to complete another one and that I am now eligible for the 2018

I have replied back asking for confirmation of who receives the online survey data if it isn't given to the local biologist responsible for the local surveys. What is the data used for if not given to the local biologist?

I have also asked for a reasonable explanation of using signature required couriers at a much higher cost than using a registered letter via Canada post which would have been half the price.

So from my experience, the survey data isn't that important to them, they didn't seem as concerned about getting the information locally as they were concerned about eliminating a hunters eligibility to the next draw and maybe a fine. Financially the are not too concerned about operating expenses and trying to save on postage.

In the meantime while I wait for their response, I wouldn't be surprised if Purolator shows up with a similar letter for my bear survey.

That is bureaucratic bungling at it's worst. Honestly, they couldn't organize a pissup at The Legion. I'm glad to see that you're calling them out. Don't take your foot off the gas for one second and put lots of pressure on your local MPP,too.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

The MNR is a big joke.. they have no clue on anything
Why don’t they learn from our neighbour from the south?
This is how it works when you kill animal in the USA
There is 1 800 number on your tag that you have to call and report the animal within 24 hours
Depends on which state you’re hunting some allow more time
At the end your report you will get a confirmation number end of the story
    What’s wrong with this method?
