That is why they are called 'reporters', not lawyers or investigators. If they had to investigate to insure things are true, ie; crimes, war stories, world events, well then the news for the day could be done in 2 minutes. Media must not report things that they KNOW are false, but they should not have to prove they are true, if they act in good faith, that is not their job. That is why we have more lawyers than Doctors.

You're liberalist naivete is palpable. Obviously, you have no idea how reporters gather information,"spin" it to fit an agenda (always, always, always it's about an agenda) then, lay it out in such a way as to make it initially believable. That sells newspaper ads and the more sensationalized the story is,the better.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

What.... conservative leaning publications-outlets don't do it as well, now who is naïve. Spinning ,and knowingly reporting false stories are not the same thing.

Being deliberately obtuse, disingenuous is sneaky, underhanded and dishonest. That's even worse. People like that make me want to puke.

News agencies live and die on the trust of the public. If they start reporting facts which are false in news reports (not opinion pieces), they lose that trust and open themselves up to defamation lawsuits.

Which is why CNN's ratings are tanking.

Google CNN retractions and then Google FOX retractions. I guess there's a reason why FOX in the US is number one in cable news. CBC just follow/bias to whoever is in power. Mainstream in Canada just follow that same echo chamber of the MSM in the states.

They are American, with little or no reporting outside of their borders. What news sources do you trust in Canada? If any?

Good question. I guess the National Post. There's not much to pick from really.
