Default MEC wants to ban Vista Outdoors due to their link to firearms

Looks like MEC is also thinking of jumping on the anti-gun band wagon......although they have always been leftist and anti hunting this is pretty much off the wall even for them. Where does this stop?

Maybe I should tell them how warm their long underwear, socks and base layers make me while I am deer and waterfowl hunting, or spending the day at the range shooting.

MEC's principal supplier is Vista Outdoors which carry everything from optics to firearms to camping gear. If MEC loses them by being stupid with the anti NRA sponsorship, their business won't last long. They best watch their stupid mouths.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Or just tell them you will find products which suit your needs elsewhere and you will encourage all your hunting buddies to likewise. The bottom line is a powerful motivator for business.

Depends on how big a part of thier business hunters are? If they think they will gain more customers by pooping on hunters, guess what.
Sail, Basspro, Cabelas and CTC want my business and don't charge a membership fee.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

I think MEC are trying to appease the ill informed leftest members and enforce their social responsibility brand......what ever that means anymore. Where do they stop. Now it is Vista Outdoors in the cross hairs next will it be Canadian Tire, Cabelas, Bass Pro, then what??

The majority of the comments I see are from people that are so uninformed and uneducated on the subject is it impossible to have an intelligent debate with them. So with that same logic do they avoid the following brands because they also have ties to the military
    - GE (yes the guys that make your appliances)
    - Bombardier
    - Boeing
    - Nikon & Bushnell
    - Oakley

.....and the list continues. What about all that Chinese/Indian product they carry in their stores? What about the human rights violations in that part of the world that everyone was so hot and heave on 6 months ago.......not as popular right now?

Vista Outdoors would go without a bump if MEC dropped them due to their 'social responsibility' title. The Canadian market is so small compared to the US and I am sure that Bass Pro/Cabelas, SAIL or Canadian Tire will pick them up. I curious to see if MEC will draw the line in the sand. If they do it I for one will not shop there ever again - and I have been a member since 1987

I've been watching this one as well, some very ill-informed members there for sure that are not happy with the hunting/sport shooting comments in the statements from Mec. There are petitions for both sides now. The comments show why we need advocacy groups fighting against legislation as they are so willing to strip all our rights without a second thought. Will be interesting to see which way MEC goes. Like terrym said, their position will really depend on how any members they think they will lose based on the direction.

Well said ! I had this same discussion with my son after finding out yesterday evening on the news. I rarely shop at MEC and always felt when certain products are banned by businesses how hypocritical they truly are selling a whole list of other products that would violate human rights due to point of origin. Just hearing MEC may be pulling Vista Outdoor products off the shelf will in only have hunters boycott MEC.

I bet 95% of the people here don't even shop at MEC, it's a zero loss to you. They are a private corporation and have all the right on who their suppliers are. I bet when K-Mart was around you didn't even care they stopped selling firearms after Columbine. I don't see you making a fuss about Canadian tire not selling Firearms in all their stores
