and my setter is aloof- unlike the JRT who loves to cuddle up.

Setters are not aloof, they are "regal". 
I still love your cocker's expression. Looks like the kind of dog you can sit by the fire with while re-living the many hunts over and over. Well, not the ones where I missed easy shots. Hmmm....that sure makes it very easy to remember those other 2 hunts.
