Forum going downhill fast?
This entire OOD forum appears to be disintegrating? As of this post, there has been only 2 others since last night at 11:51 pm, and it's not really hard to figure out why. It's turned into a political bash site and woe the posters who dare to discuss anything related to outdoors? Sad really!

As much as you would like to ignore it we have in Canada right now probably 3 of the worst governments in Canadian history for their waste, programs and spending. Those 3 with their policies affect ALL parts of life in Canada and in the soonest election Ontario. The interest payments increase since the Libs in Ontario have been in power is in the billions more and that either loads up the future to pay for it or reduces the current spending on things like the environment, transportation and real pollution. Their views and policies affect jobs, whether other countries will invest in Canada (oil industry is currently leaving and even Canadian companies are investing in other countries, to the detriment of jobs and opportunities in Canada. Their policies can change firearm ownership, land usage (restricting hunting or fishing on public lands....), land ownership (think huge land claims), the amount of money in your pocket (recent article 91% are paying more taxes under Libs) ....... who is in power affects everything on this board to some degree.... even the photography, if they turn over park land to land claims there may be no more access to the public in some location, parks with restricted hours or closed certain dates to save money etc. Wind turbines for example kill tens of thousands of birds and bats with affect the pest populations ( including the mosquito... :-) ) and in so doing crops, the spread of diseases (west nile...) and I can go on but it should be clear when a topic is affected by politics then it will likely come up.

Just because everything is affected by politics, does not mean you cannot have a conversation without bringing it up. You just don't want to.

This is the off topic section. Plenty of other activity specific sections to use if they serve you better.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Politics is brought into every thread, by some people.

I am well aware that this is the "off topic" section. My point was, and I think many will agree, this site as a whole, has degenerated into something entirely different than what the original intent was?

Are you saying all sections or just the off topic one?

Correct. And to prove your point even your thread was contaminated with politics right from the very first reply.
It seems like many people here don't want to use Facebook but it's really the best place to be part of what ever hobby you are in. Lots of information, discussions, videos, pictures and all about every subjects on hearth. There is multiple pages for everything you can be interested in (Canadian reloading, long range shooting, bear hunting, sap boiling and all). Just like this forum you got to know the users and it becomes a less "Stranger" community. A hole get banned very quickly too....

I have to agree with you there, a good example, two threads that were originally in the Fire Arms and Ammo section, very quickly evolved into a political discussion, instead of the perpetrators being warned to keep politics out of the topic, the thread was removed and put into the Off Topic section.
This happens too many times , threads get derailed by certain individuals and arguments about politics start needlessly.
Makes me wonder if these certain individuals do this purposely just to get their thread count up?
