If anyone attempts to hurt me and I figure I can take them then I own them.

Nobody has a right to attack another person.

No he didn't. What would you do while someone is choking you, ask him to play cards. He told the kid to stop breaking into someones locker. Should my son have waited until he was choked out?

Again just saying he choose to escalate the situation.

If you tell your son ' if he can take someone he can do whatever'.... even if he is attacked first, that young man is a bully in the making and likely a convict as well. Does the term 'reasonable force' come to mind?

If someone was breaking into my neighbours house where only property was at risk what would I do/should do? .... ummmmm oh ya call the proper authority to deal with it, hence wouldn't have to worry about what to do if someone is choking me.
Your son so raise him how you want.
Mine knows well enough in a situation like that report it to the proper authority and not confront the offender for the sake of property especially if theft is on video.

I can't believe what you've just said.....are you silly??? what the hell are you teaching your kids??
No one said your kid needed to wait for someone to choke him....of course not. He should have reported the problem...your boy doesn't have a badge on his chest and you clearly should not condone that type of behaviour.....be responsible....absolutely but in the right way
Several others have made some reasonable suggestions....like maybe contact someone who does this for a living.
Sorry GW but you're way off base.

In your opinion. If he takes his dads bad advice, it is not out of line or unreasonable, if you go around thinking because 'you can take someone you can do whatever' . In parts of this country it could have got his son killed, for a locker break-in.

He was defending a locker. But then again he has a father who thinks it should be okay to shoot someone who is stealing his atv, as he has stated many times over the years on many threads
