I do not know about some of you on here , but if I get a bill-ticket , I pay it. Unless it is unjust, then I fight , and only pay if the court says I lost. Why would you not pay a fine you received for breaking the rules? My father used to say, 'just because you can, does not mean you should'.

Pay the peanuts and call it a lesson learned . Thanks for sharing I wonder how many actually leave that little piece of skin on the fillet.

I agree that you are taking it like a champ and doing us a service by sharing the reminder. Kudos to you. I also agree that even good people occasionally make mistakes, what separates them is how they handle it. Much respect to you.

I went to Orillia last week. I caught a limit of eyes the day before. I made sure I left skin on, especially since I was pulling a boat. You never know when the CO will be around. Easy enough to forget, but costly if get caught. I agree if you do the crime, pay the fine.

Well if you need an explanation and not to put words in fratri mouth my take is there was no criminal or nefarious intent. Just some dude that was a bit shall we say lazy (granted I'm sure that's not the right word for it) in following the transport laws.
Was a fine a bit harsh for it maybe but had he received a warning would it make it to the forum and receive 500 views?
Again respect to the OP for his attitude and realizing the fine was more to get the message out there.

Ive started taking the fillet off and leaving the whole skin for transport. Its just as easy to remove the whole skin as it is a small piece

We plucked our ducks in the blind when I was a young hunter forgetting to leave plummage on one wing. You guessed it. CO was at the landing and found the one damn duck out of twelve we had without the feathers. We split the ticket costing us $5 each and caught holy highland h**l when we got home (CO was a friend of Grandpa's). I did all the chores by myself for a week. Live and learn.
