We might as well, be discussing and debating what’s best for people that live on the moon. Very few people have any actual experience, relevance.

It’s little different than Canadians, who don’t know much about say, guns, suggesting bans are the answer.....”funny that”

Most of the people that post in these threads, cause the liberals of targeting law abiding gun owners..............most resent feeling singled out, and caught in the same net.....the problem isn’t us, it’s the criminals......... “funny that”

Most of the people that respond and discuss these things, dont like the idea of the new police powers and random checks, no probable cause needed, with respect to impaired driving.........most will throw hissy fits, and call the Liberals every name in the book, they Day cops start pulling people over, and demanding breathalyzer........funny that...

Can’t suck and blow at the same time....
Yet, most are more than willing to throw these people under the bus.

Walk a mile imo, spend a year in Regent Park, or a year in the jungle ( cute name for the projects immediately south of York Dale mall). I’ve done both.
' Funny That " but when it was being done, " carding " a friend of mine a cop was able to pull 3 handguns 2 real and one imitation , off the streets and have the individuals charged.
Two of these where white, the other was not. How they were caught ? they were hanging around late at night by variety stores and 1 at a Shoppers Drug Mart , waiting for an opportunity.
My friend caught them by driving up in an unmarked cruiser and watched them from a distance in the super market parking lot.
Carding did work, now with the law being changed, the police have nothing to work with unfortunately.

It’s not just the “carding”. Leo can’t even approach someone and see what they are up to without telling them they don’t have to talk to the Leo, and tell them how to complain and who to complain to !! Consequently, Leo just keep driving !
    It’s called de-policing !!

How long before we have no-go zones that police won't even go into do you think ... they have them in Europe.... where the left calls them "difficult zones" usually.

As I stated, no easy answers.

Curious. Are cops somehow magically immune to at best “profiling”, at worst racism?

Even the most unbiased, open minded cop, will, cause grief (right term) for those that live in certain areas.

Then, there’s what’s known as preconceived expectations. Studies have been done in classrooms. At the start of the school year, teachers are told kids that have gotten straight As were problem kids, and kids that had struggled with grades, great students

Guess which kids struggled that year.

Go, live in a regent park for a year. Experience what it’s actually like.

Carding sounds great, nor do I have a problem with it. Then again, I’m white.

My addition to this, when the cops catch them, it's a matter of hours before they're back on the street, why the judges and judicial system sucks. Then the crown and defence counsels bargain down to keep them out of jail. I'd almost swear it is a set up to keep the lieyers busy making lots of money.

Not the report/study I was looking for, but the stats speak for themselves. Let’s call a spade a spade.
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmon...ding-1.4178843

I have not said it’s not effective Jaycee, I have not said I’m against it. Have said, try experiencing life in the areas. Due note in this article, who is calling a spade a spade. BLM

Perhaps people aren’t aware that cops aren’t trusted.....as is.
Which is odd, because few of you trust the cops when it comes to the RCMP/Guns, and scream bloody murder anytime you feel singled out, anytime you feel your civil rights/liberties are superficially inconvenienced. Compared to this issue that’s nothing...”funny that”

Gilroy to, actually, unlike many has experienced life in Regent Park. Oddly enough during the same years I was there. Policing back then was different, cops were trusted to a degree, and they certainly didn’t target black youth saying “papers please”. Despite that, they knew who the bangers were, who were good kids. What today we refer to as at risk youth.

Not sure what has changed over the years. While the residents in these communities may not have always been exactly best chums with the cops, there was a level of respect and trust back then, that is utterly absent today. Dunno maybe it has something to do with being treated differently, like criminals and papers please

Am willing to bet, 98% of people in favour of it.

    Are white
    Are female
Have never spent more than a couple hours, on the other side of the tracks or on “the mean streets”. In the projects.
Carding works great in many other countries so what's so different in Canada?!? And more importantly, do you have anything better?!?! Life is harder for some, it doesn't mean we should all suffer from it...

I have been stooped many dozen times when I was young and I never died from it. Got caught with illegal things a few times and life went on.....
