Tree stands

So this year I decided to try my hand in the tree tops for rifle season. I am going to start off in a ladder stand then if I like it will gravitate to a climber as I do like the mobility but a little concerned on the comfort for all day sits. I have never had a stand before so there has been a bit of research done in order to make a choice. Were I hunt deer there are no fields even remotely close so over the years it has been on the ground along funnel routes. Have been some what successful. But never any thing larger than a four point. I do have camera's out and have seen some impressive deer out there never while hunting on the ground. My first pick for a stand was the big Denneli 20 ft high seemed like lots of room to sit and be comfortable all day as well as being built good at a decent price range, after looking on line for a couple of days it came to me that some time after a few hours I may like to stand up for a while. This stand does not have very much in the way of standing platform as the seat does not flip up. I have now decided on the big game hunter HD 1.5 18.5 feet high although it does not have every thing the other has it does have a comfortable seat that flips up and a larger platform. Thought I would ad a drink holder as well a as a rifle rest such as rhino grips to the shooting rail and some thing to hang my pack on.
Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

I would sagest a sleeping platform hanging tent like climbers

As much as it would appeal to me, to sleep and stay in the tree. The price point and setting up difficulties are to high.

I've used the 'buddy' two man ladder stands for many years. Sold as two man but really only good for one guy with lots of room for your pack etc. You can stand and shake it out without difficultly. Most are 16' with 4' ladder extension available.

It can put them up and down myself but it requires a second ladder (or climb the tree) to take a rope up above it to help haul it up.

Thanks Mikepal I had thought of the two man I did not know if it would be to big or high enough the price looks good in the states though could buy two for the price of one I am thinking of.

If its on private land a ladder stand would be great for convenience, a small rain tarp overhead helps also. Tough to beat the comfort of a climber though.

Thanks Marker I do like the idea of a climber for the mobility, probably be my next purchase. I cant see it being for my all day spots thoe.

The reason I sagest to not to disturb the area and the price ....
depend which field are you working .....

We have a combination of stands on the 200 acre farm we deer hunt on. We have two perm blinds (huts), three double ladder stands, three single ladder stands, and three hang on stands with pegs. Every year we buy two stands and either replace one of the older stands or add a new stand location. The older we get the more we like the double ladder stands and the huts - LOLAttachment 37329

I have the typical single-hunter stand; tubular steel and foam seat etc. I find it pretty shaky and am not filled with confidence in it.

After looking at some of the wooden stands my father made, I think I would give that a try if I wanted to set up another in addition to mine.

They don’t have to be fancy and I think you can build something much sturdier yourself than what can be bought. Perhaps a good Sunday project...
